Wells Nursery LLC
Since 1937, Wells Nursery has been propagating and growing many unique trees, many of which are exclusive Wells Nursery introductions.
With over 150 acres in production, we continue to supply the nursery industry with our carefully selected grafted conifers. Trees grown in Mount Vernon, WA are shipped to many areas in the northwest, mid-west, and eastern United States. We attribute our success to careful plant selection, remarkable discoveries, and the perfect climate for growing our conifers.

❄️How to winterize your outdoor plants and garden:
Mulch: applying a thick layer of much over your roots will insulate the soil and protect from the cold.
Cover: cover your plants with burlap, plastic, or frost cloth to protect them from the cold.
Bury your pot: if you have potted plants that are small enough to bring inside that have tropical or warm weather plants in them then do but if they are too big to go inside, bury your pots in a hole that is about as deep as half the pot.
Avoid over watering: !!! This is crucial so that your plants are not sitting in water. If there is too much water on the roots in the winter, they can get frost damage and end up rotting.
Do not fertilize: your plants are not growing as much in the winter therefore do not require fertilizer.
Clean your garden beds: remove dead leaves, or debris that has accumulated in the fall.

Some cacti on our new shelves in the retail shop here at the nursery. Growing cacti in the pacific north west is not impossible and quite easy when you know how they need to be loved. Full sun always and moderate water in the summer. In the winter these babies only need water maybe once a month. When we say “a little water” that doesn’t mean only water them a few drops. You can fully soak the soil but always wait to water again until the soil is completely dry. Check before you water! Our staff member Jurnie Thurston suggests sticking your finger in the soil or buying a soil moisture probe or meter to get all the way to the bottom of the pot. If it is still wet, do not water. They are easy to care for and grow beautifully in a windowsill. 🌵
Stella de Oro (reblooming) daylily, Annabelle Hydrangea and Vine Maple living together here. They add so much color to our nursery in the spring and summer🌿
We pride ourselves in our large Japanese maple collection. They are beautiful plants that add so much to your landscape. 🍁
