We had a very successful cleanup day at PYT last Saturday! Our studio and shop look better than they have all year. We had to say goodbye to a few beloved pieces (including this Tavern on the Green sign from last fall's ), but we've made lots of room for the new things coming!
Sending out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped - from our prep team who got things in a good place to DO clean up day, through everyone who helped stack and pile and sort and clean and paint. You rock!!
Register now for PYT’s Fall Studio Classes! We have classes in Improvisation, Musical Theatre, Scripted performances, Audition prep and Theatre Fundamentals! Classes are open for kids ages 4-12!
Classes begin the week of September 16th and run through the week of November 19th, except Monday classes, which end on November 25th. There is no class on October 14th, October 31st, or November 11th.
Fall registration closes at midnight on Sunday, September 8th.

MEET THE CAST OF “THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE”:
Ria is the third and final member of our Bee Staff. She is a ninth grader who has been in theatre for seven years. This is her eleventh drama production and second with PYT after her role of Chava in Fiddler on the Roof. Outside of theatre, Ria enjoys reading, crocheting, and solving puzzles. She hopes you enjoy the show!

MEET THE CAST OF “THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE”:
Sophie is our second member of the Bee Staff and thrilled to be joining the cast of PYT in her 23rd show overall! Some of her favorite past roles include Maria (The Sound of Music) and Kendra (13: The Musical) at CMTSJ, and SpongeBob (The SpongeBob Musical) and Fiona (Shrek the Musical) at Roberta Jones Jr. Theater. Outside of theater, Sophie loves listening to music and hanging out with her friends.

Our first member of the Bee Staff, Ruby Lindsay, is 15 years old and is so excited to do her first show at PYT! She enjoys doing musicals, singing and spending time with her friends. Other shows she has done include Mean Girls (Cady), The Sound of Music (Liesel), and Into the Woods (The Witch). MEET THE CAST OF "THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE":
Mitch Mahoney is the comfort counselor for this year's bee, providing consolation prizes to our eliminated spellers. Full disclosure: he was not our first choice. However, the role is part of his assigned community service. He hopes to make our spellers feel better about losing, and perhaps place misspelling words in a wider perspective.

Vice Principal Douglas Panch of Lake Hemingway Dos Passos Junior High is a last-minute addition to the bee's staff. He will be stepping in as word pronouncer in lieu of the county superintendent. Mr. Panch says he fell into his career in education less out of love and more from his general ability and demeanor. He is open to referrals for school principal jobs anywhere they may be available.

Olive Ostrovsky is a word lover whose favorite hobby is reading the dictionary. This is her first time participating in a spelling bee. Her mother is unable to attend the bee as she is currently travelling in India. Fortunately, Olive's Dad is able to attend, but will be arriving late due to work obligations. Ms. Ostrovsky has requested a front row seat to be reserved for him. Don't worry - there are plenty of other great seats for ticketed attendees of the bee!

MEET THE CAST OF "THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE":
Marcy Park is new to our County, having competed in the National Spelling Bee last year as a representative of Virginia. She is a high-achieving student who has skipped two grades thus far and currently attends a local parochial school. Other than spelling, Ms. Park's many talents include piano, dance, gymnastics, guitar, martial arts, and speaking several languages including ASL.

MEET THE CAST OF "THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE":
William Barfeè (pronounced barf-AY) made it to the finals of last year's bee but was unfortunately taken out of the competition due to an ill-timed allergic reaction. He is known on the spelling circuit for his unique and remarkable technique: spelling words out on the floor with his foot. Mr. Barfeè spends his free time participating in several scientific and marine-based hobbies.

Leaf Coneybear was the second alternate of the Putnam Basin district bee, but is thrilled to be serving as the Basin representative for the County bee in lieu of the winner... and first runner up. Mr. Coneybear is home-schooled with his many siblings. He may have severe Attention Deficit Disorder though it only adds to his excitement of participating in this bee. However, his mother has made him wear his protective helmet to the bee.

Logainne Schwartzandgrubenniere is the youngest contestant of the bee. She is a politically active student at her school, the Magna Magnet Grammar School. Ms. Schwartzandgrubenniere prepared for the bee by drilling words for hours a day with her two fathers, from which she takes her combined last name. She encourages all eligible voters to exercise their right in this important election year.

Chip Tolentino, the reigning spelling champion of Putnam County, is back to clinch his second win! He is an athletic and social young man who plays as pitcher on his little league team. Spelling, baseball, and WINNING are his life. He admits he has been going through some weird changes lately, though he says they will NOT affect his performance in the bee.

Rona Lisa Peretti, a local realtor, is back for her 9th consecutive year of hosting the Putnam County Spelling Bee. Ms. Peretti was the champion of the 3rd annual Putnam bee. As hostess, she introduces each speller, upholds protocol, and helps keep the bee running smoothly.
