School is back in session, summer has come to an end but it was one to remember. This summer, we had a great lineup of events from the 3rd of July Family Celebration through our last Terrace Summer Nights: Movie. These events don't happen without the great community around us; part of that is our sponsors. We would like to thank all of the businesses that made this summer such a success.

Hope you can join us this Saturday for our annual Nationa Day of Service Park Cleanup at Ballinger Park
https://www.facebook.com/share/yB1eci9NyZyGydre/
National Day of Service Park Cleanup, this Saturday September 14. Join us at Lake Ballinger Park from 9-noon with lunch to follow.
Annually in September, the Recreation Park Advisory Commission (RPAC) and the Neighborhood Park Improvement Subcommittee (NPIS) invite the community to join them for a fall park clean up event that coincides with the National “Day of Service” in remembrance of September 11. The “Day of Service” was established to encourage the public to volunteer in their communities during the week of September 11.
Volunteers, with gardening gloves and tools, meet at the Lake Ballinger Clubhouse 9:00 a.m. to get the assignments before heading out.
Volunteer groups should register with Parks Supervisor at 425-776-1811 in advance so assignments can be planned accordingly. Please come and join this community cleanup effort – rain or shine.
The monthly Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission Meeting will be held in person AND virtually Tuesday, September 10 at 7 pm.
The in person meeting location will be at City Hall for all who wish to attend in person (23204 58th Ave. West). If the public would like to listen in via telephone, the phone number is 1-253-215-8782.

After a few weeks of minor disruption, the new LED lights are up on Evergreen Playfield #5, just north of the Recreation Pavilion. These new LED fixtures are designed to direct light at targeted locations and help reduce any light spillage to the surrounding area. They also reduce energy consumption and operating costs, compared to the older metal halides that previously lit the field. On the lower level of the light poles, you might notice lighting pointed upward. These lights specifically help players track pop flies in the night sky. All of this work to install the new equipment was completed just in time for our upcoming fall sports leagues. Let’s play ball!

Terrace Summer Nights was started with the vision of building community and creating a venue for friends and families to connect with one another. The last movie night of the summer was no exception. Thank you to everyone who came out to support all of our events this summer.
While beloved for generations, the Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion is worse for the wear.
The City Council is scheduled to hear a presentation Aug. 22 about the status of the building and options that mainly involve renovation or replacement.
