St. John's Lutheran Church and School Mukwonago

Our member, Ethan Dunn, traveled to Brazil along with Wisconsin Lutheran High School volunteering at an after-school program and forging friendships with a group of Brazilian teens from a sister school.

The team activities included opportunities for putting their faith into practice in multiple settings, teaching Bible stories, songs and crafts at an after-school program for economically disadvantaged kids and letting their light shine by staying with host families for several nights.

Fun activities the group experienced with their Brazilian mentors included; visiting sites in the city of Sao Paulo, exploring the uninhabited island of Anchieta, taking a surfing lesson in Ubatuba beach, visiting the new training facility for the local professional soccer team, attending the local "Festa Junina" (June Festival) with a variety of music, food and folk dancing, along with many other activities and sites.

Happy birthday to Mr. Schneck, our 7th & 8th grade teacher. God’s blessings to him today and in the year to come!

Tomorrow (Monday, July 1st), we will be painting the existing bathrooms as part of the bathroom remodel. The more people we have - the faster it will go! Starting at 9:00 AM. Hope to see you there!

Have any of you been lucky enough to see the frequent visitor that has been checking out our church and school lately?

Our member, Noelle Berg, traveled to Thailand on a mission trip with Wisconsin Lutheran High School to share the Gospel Message with students in Chang Mai. They visited two schools where they taught Bible lessons and songs, did crafts, and taught English. They also visited the Thai Village community center and were able to see the new building project in the works there, along with many other fun activities and sites.

Another update from the youth rally in Colorado... The theme is “Shout from the mountain top, Jesus is Lord!” So we did. Four group excursions; two rafting, horseback riding, and hiking. Back on the road on Friday. Many prayers of thankfulness to the generous members of St Johns! See you on Sunday. God is so good! And birthday shenanigans from Pastor Bode and Mr. Ruehrdanz.

Update pics from the youth rally in Colorado - worship with 3000+ of Gods people!  Woohoo!

This summer, we are also remodeling two of our classrooms and both of our bathrooms. The classroom remodel is to remove all of the carpeting and install VCT tile. The bathroom remodel will give us updated countertops and privacy partitions along with a much needed paint job. All the bathrooms at school will be closed until August due to construction. Most of this work is done through volunteers in our congregation. Thank you!

The secretaries are getting younger and younger! If you need assistance at school or church, our office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm - maybe you will be lucky enough to catch these young smiling faces.

And they’re off! 15 youth and 4 adults from St. John’s are headed off to the WELS International Youth Rally in Fort Collins, Colorado - God’s blessings on their travels and we can’t wait to hear about their week!

Fewer pictures this week means we are getting closer to the end. We are so excited to move in next month!

Due to construction, our playground will not be open this year for fireworks viewing for the Summerfeste Fireworks tonight (Friday, June 14th) See you next year!

A big thank you to the over 20 volunteers that came to help at school this morning! In less than an hour, we put up all the coat racks and cubbies in the old part of school and put items into three classrooms. Towards the beginning of July, we will need lots of hands to help again! Stay tuned!

As the school year has drawn to a close, we bid farewell to some members of our staff who will not be returning next school year.

We are immensely grateful for their contributions and pray for continued success and fulfillment in their journey ahead! Thank you Mr. Olson, Mrs. Neujahr, Mr. Cook, and Mrs. van Helden!

Every first Thursday of the month, St. John’s has a luncheon for its members who are 55 years and older. What a blessing it is to see these members have food, fellowship, and a Bible study together.

Pastor Berg gave a devotion similar to this at Wisconsin Lutheran High School's graduation last weekend. It is a fitting thought for all of our graduates and all those who love them!

A: I love capturing memories and looking back and seeing God's blessings unfold.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is considering volunteering at our church?
A: It is such a special thing when many people come together using the gifts God has given them for the greater good of our school and church community. Not only do you gain a sense of personal pride, but get the opportunity to connect with so many people you may otherwise never have the chance.
