Just look at that face! Sweet Cornelius loves all the people he has met at ARF, however he does prefer to be the only dog. He likes to chase kitties, and so far he’s been fairly barky at every dog he’s seen at ARF. He may be able to be around dogs but we do think he should be the only dog in the home. Cornelius is 2 years old, and has been recently neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms and intestinal parasites (negative for both!!) . This evening we had a puppy with a leg injury surrendered to us. Through an amazing network of rescues and shelters located throughout Indiana and the tri state area, we were able to secure a rescue for her that can have her seen first thing in the morning and make a treatment plan with their vet. This is where we need help- they are located about an hour east of ARF in Eaton, Ohio. She needs a ride from ARF to Eaton around 8 am. If you are able to help, please send us a message. We will provide a crate that we do not necessarily need back, so you wouldn’t have to come back to Muncie if you aren’t from the Muncie area.

We want to thank our amazing volunteers Cindy and Ann Marie for bringing a special Labor Day treat to the dogs! The dogs got to cool down this Labor Day weekend with their favorite treat- pup cups! A few even got easy to digest chew bones! We are always so thankful to our volunteers, and the dogs especially love their visits- not just because of the ice cream! They know they’re in for extra loving when Cindy and Ann Marie drop by!

You might notice we were on a country music kick for a bit - this cat was named after Alan Jackson (and we still have more famous names at ARF). Alan Jackson was saved by a caring woman who noticed something going on in her neighborhood and investigated. A home had been abandoned by the previous tenant and had left all twelve of her cats - yes 12! We brought six of them into ARF. Alan was the only male of the group and he was one of the first ones to be adopted.

"We changed his name from Alan Jackson to Salem given that he is all black and had green eyes.
He is settling in beautifully, and is very spoiled. He loves lickable treats, and he gets two servings of wet food as well as a 1/2 cup of dry food daily.
Some of his favorite toys are his cat sized lamb chop toy, and his floppy fish toy.
He has his own room in our house where he is free to come and go, and over all he is just a very sweet well behaved and very loved boy.
He is my 5 year old son’s cuddle partner, and loves to sleep with us as well.."

Who doesn't love kittens? Who doesn't love mexican food? What could be better? Mixing the two of course. So we named a litter of kittens after mexican foods. Meet Gordita and Enchilada. These beautiful little girls were adopted back in June together and we recently checked in to see how they have been doing.

"They are great! There names are Charlie and Coco now. They stay in our twins room with them most of the time, that’s where they actually prefer to be! The girls absolutely love them though, play with them every day after school and sleep with them at night."

August was another fantastic month for dog adoptions here at Muncie ARF. Another one of our pups is writing his own story after finding a wonderful home! ⚡️ This sweet boy, Zeus, was recently adopted and we are so excited to see him grow and flourish (I mean look at those paws!).

Yosemite was part of the national park litter that one of you named for us! He was adopted back in June and we checked in on him recently. Here is the update:

🎶”what’s love got to do, got to do with it?”🎶 EVERYTHING! After just over a week with his foster family, Maximus was adopted by his fosters! Him and his new parents only see success in this foster “fail” 🥰😉

We are SO excited to share this going home picture with you! Chewy the adorable brown shih Tzu found his home and we are pretty certain that this was just meant to be! Chewy has settled right into his new home and mom says he is doing great! Chewy and his new brother Oliver have become fast friends. We absolutely love sharing stories like these with you, because YOU are the reason we can take in animals in need of homes, and help them find their happily ever after. Our tails have happy endings because of our supporters!

Georgia has been dog and cat tested, and is foster mom approved! Georgia is available for adoption and currently resides in a foster home. Because she is fostered, we have a lot more insight into her behavior and personality then we might if she was still in the shelter environment. In the kennels, she was timid and often ran out the dog door and hid when people looked into her kennel. In her foster home, she’s confident, happy, and loves affection. Georgia was surrendered at five months of age and we were told she was a mastiff mix. We think maybe she has some beagle or hound in her. She weighs about 40 lbs. As you can see from the pictures she’s dog friendly, cat friendly, and human friendly!! She’s also crate trained and housebroken. She’s literally nearly perfect! Curious, loving, and talkative Benny is hoping that today is his lucky 🍀 day! Benny is a four month old kitten who was recently surrendered to ARF. He’s by himself and we think he’s very lonely because whenever we walk by he meows and cries out for us, so of course we have to stop and snuggle him which he loves. He doesn’t have any littermates and is too young to free roam in the catty shack just yet which is why he’s by himself. We are open today from 12-3, so please stop by and meet our cats and dogs, and perhaps find your new best friend! Benny’s adoption fee is $130 which includes his neuter, microchip, leukemia and FIV test, deworminfs and vaccinations. Odin was another cat found as a stray. He was having a very difficult time and was so sick that we didn't know if he would survive. Even when he felt so horrible, this sweet boy would still be making his biscuits. After some medical intervention and some very deserved TLC from one of our employees who fostered him, he turned the corner and became a healthy cat ready for his next adventure which was with his new mom Leanna and canine sister Lexi.

What a great couple of weeks for dog adoptions! This past Sunday, Jupiter (the last of the planet pups) was adopted at Tractor Supply Company! We are grateful to TSC for allowing us to bring adoptable dogs to their store over the weekend to find loving homes.

Looking for a longer haired kitten? Well, we have them. Meet the spicy brothers: Habanero, Pico, and Tajin. They gorgeous boys will be ready soon. Have you ever heard of the cat breed Russian Blue? We get asked all of the time if we have any Russian Blues. Russian Blues are a beautiful gray/blue color and are stunning creatures. While we do not do any type of DNA testing on cats, we do have a cat scanner application that tells us its best guess as to the breed of the cats we have. We currently have five cats that are considered Russian Blue.

What makes Russian Blue cats stand out is their hypoallergenic traits. While no cat can be 100% hypoallergenic, Russian Blues come close. They produce fewer allergenic proteins, which are the main cause of allergic reactions.

If you've ever wanted a Russian Blue or we have piqued your interest, we would love to introduce you to our "Blue Crew". Our adoption hours are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 1pm to 4pm or Saturday from noon to 3pm - but if none of these are convenient for you, we are happy to set up a special appointment if needed. All of them have been spay/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV/FELV, screened for parasites and worms, and microchipped. Please apply at munciearf.com.

Tim Mcgraw is soooo handsome - no I'm not talking about the country singer. I'm talking about the handsome boy that we took in after one of our former employees found him and just knew he deserved a home rather than living outside. He was just too loving and sweet and shouldn't have to tough it out in the elements. She was right and we all loved him immediately. He didn't last long at ARF and was adopted by Yanay in early June, who recently shared how he has been doing.

"He is doing wonderfully! We changed his name to Roscoe …. Roscoe is still very loving, in fact he loves to be on you 24/7 .. if you don’t say hi to Roscoe, he will playfully bite you! He meows a ton… and for no reason but he's also very lazy… he gets the zoomies about 9pm every night and then he’s off to bed! We are very thankful for Roscoe! "

You may have seen our post just the other day about this sweet pup, Romeo. Fear not! This brave boy has found a family! We’re so happy to see that this story has a happy ending, and we hope all our “Romeo’s” find their furever homes too. ❤️

“Journey here! Everyone at ARF keeps telling me what a good boy I am. I am patient when they put my eye medicine in every morning and every night, and I love when the brush me. Sometimes they tell me they could make a whole other dog with the fur they brush out, but they also say that’s just part of having a husky. They also tell me that one day, I’ll have a home of my own. For now though I’m happy being here. Although it would be nice to have a mom or a dad who are there at night when I go to bed, and in the morning when I wake up, and all the times in between. Before I came to ARF I was living on a chain, so I would love a home that has a fenced yard or someone that will walk me on a leash. I’m pretty calm for a husky. I also have a beautiful singing voice and I love to sing the songs of my people. I especially enjoy to show off my voice when I hear sirens. They tell me that if you want to adopt me my adoption fee has been sponsored so there’s no cost to adopt me. I do have to have special eye medicine for a condition called chronic dry eye. But the people at ARF are going to send a six pack or each medicine with me too. Well, I think that’s about it- I hope you come by and meet me!”
