In case you missed it - we are excited to announce we have a new veterinarian on our team!

We're excited to introduce Dr. Spencer Seabeck, who joined our team at Care Animal Hospital in June 2024. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a deep passion for veterinary medicine.
Originally from Fort Wayne, Dr. Seabeck earned his Biology Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on Buckeye football, reading, going to the lake, and skiing. He also shares his home with a cherished dog named Luna.

Dr. Seabeck is excited to be part of our team and looks forward to meeting you and your pets. He loves veterinary medicine for the diverse challenges and opportunities it presents, from complex medical and surgical cases to learning and growing alongside a fun, caring, and knowledgeable team.

As we gather to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, let's not forget our furry companions! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe and calm during the festivities:

🎇 Create a Safe Space: Make sure your pets have a quiet, comfortable place to retreat away from the noise.
🐶 Keep Them Indoors: Fireworks can be frightening for pets. Keep them indoors and secure windows and doors.
🐱 Update ID Tags: Ensure your pets' ID tags and microchip information are up to date, just in case they get scared and run off.
🐾 Avoid Fireworks: Never use fireworks around pets. They can cause severe burns and trauma.
🎆 Watch the BBQ: Be mindful of what your pets eat. Certain foods can be harmful to them.

Meet Oatsy! Oatsy is a 10 year old orange tabby who is in need of a new home. His current owner recently moved to a nursing home and is unable to keep him. Oatsy is declawed and is not suitable for being an outdoor cat. We also believe Oatsy would do best as the only pet in the home!

Please join us in wishing Dr. Mike Brown a happy retirement after 37 years!

Dr. Brown helped to bring much needed veterinary care to the Muncie community back in 1997 when he built Care Animal Hospital on the old YMCA softball fields.

During his career, Dr. Brown has provided medical care to thousands of pets. With his impressive surgical skills and motto that no sick pet should have to wait, he has helped make Care Animal Hospital the trusted clinic everyone relies upon when pets are in crisis.

Dr. Brown’s commitment to his community is strong. He served for over a decade as President of the Board for Muncie Animal Care & Services, and has worked with the Community Foundation to manage and grow the Durham Family Veterinary Trust Fund.

Through the years, Dr. Brown has enjoyed mentoring many young people with an interest in veterinary medicine whether that be the local school kids, student interns, or newly minted veterinarians. Dr. Brown has worked to establish scholarships that offer funds to area students attending Purdue’s Veterinary School.

While we know many of you will miss Dr. Brown, we can assure you that his commitment to providing high quality services to your pets will live on in the veterinarians you see at our office today. (Of course, we can’t promise they’ll have as much sarcasm and dry wit as Dr. Brown!).

Going forward, Dr. Brown hopes to spend more time on his many hobbies - sailboat racing, woodworking, biking, and spending time with his four granddaughters to name a few!
