Our featured Management graduate alumnus of the week is Autumn Moore. Here is what she’s been doing since obtaining her MS in Management degree with a concentration in Organizational Leadership:
My career took the scenic path to get me to where I am currently. Since graduating with my Master's degree, I've done a lot of different things. During my final semester, I started a body scrub and body butter business called Blissful Serenity, and I won the Elevator Pitch contest in 2016. I private labeled my product for a short-time for a high end salon in Brentwood. I treated Blissful Serenity as a side hustle while working various temp job including Payroll for Nissan. Another side gig I pursued was Career Advocate where I helped individuals revamp their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, prep for interviews, and negotiate job offers. One client received a 25% increase in compensation. I paused those endeavors when I moved to Las Vegas in late 2019 for a corporate role with Amazon. I am a Disability and Leave of Absence expert at Amazon, and I specialize in paid and unpaid statutory leave of absence laws for states like California, Oregon, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc. From early 2022 to early 2023, I oversaw the training/nesting of over 500 new hires for a specialized team of Disability/Leave of Absence Case Managers. My current responsibilities include supporting a vendor team of 100 Case Managers located across the globe and assisting with the launch of Colorado's Paid Family Medical Leave program. I am often asked to join high impact projects, and I am currently working on one involving establishing an entirely new process for how intermittent leave of absence is tracked to prevent overpayment for salaried employees. I will also be starting formal Six Sigma training in the coming weeks.
As the semester winds down, there are a few final IGNITE opportunities. This one is offered on Tuesday and Wednesday to work for various schedules.
Our featured Management graduate of the week is Emily Johnson McAnally. After finishing her degree, Emily worked as a Global Assignment Consultant at SIRVA, managing the relocation benefits for expatriates relocating to a new country. She joined the Management department this fall as one of our lecturers and will teach Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, and Leadership classes in the spring!
