MEET Anne , a leader at Central Magnet School. This is her story and why she is a Young Life Leader!!
I am a Young Life leader because I met Jesus through Young Life and wanted to be a person high school girls could trust and be friends with. I love being able to walk through life with my high school friends and show them the Lords love for them through my actions. Being a Young Life leader has allowed me to love girls and grow closer to Jesus myself!

MEET Michaela, a leader at Rockvale High School. This is her story and why she is a Young Life Leader!!
I am a Younglife leader because I have been forever changed by the love of Jesus and the hope of the gospel, and I want to show others how they too can experience the life changing love of Jesus! In my darkest times, Jesus chased after me and showed me how I could have true life, true joy, and true peace. And I want to do that for my high school friends. I want to be the one who shows up and chases after them. In the middle of whatever they are going through, I want to be someone who shines the light and hope of Christ and shows them a better way. I remember being in high school and needing someone I could confide in to help me through the struggles I was facing. That’s what I want to be for them- someone who will listen, love, and guide. I want them to encounter the love of Christ and find the lasting fulfillment that only He can provide!
If you are high school or college aged and want to have the best summer of your life, volunteering at a Young Life camp this summer is for you!! 🏕️

MEET Andrew (aka Pringle), a leader at Central Magnet School. This is his story and why he is a Young Life Leader!!
I am a Young Life leader because God has called me to share His love with high schoolers and to form relationships with them. I first became involved with Young life as a freshman in high school by going to club every week because it was an environment where I felt that I could truly be myself. I became great friends with my leaders and wanted to become more involved. As time went on, YL gave me opportunities that required me to step outside of my comfort zone, which I am eternally grateful for because it allowed me to glorify God in ways that I never thought I was capable of. I knew that I wanted to stay involved with YL after I finished high school, so I made it a priority to get connected when I moved to Murfreesboro. My hope is that I will form long lasting relationships and walk through life with high schoolers, the same way my leaders were always there for me when I was in high school and still in contact with to this day. More importantly, just letting high schoolers know that they are loved unconditionally by Jesus. I am super excited to see what God has planned for me. “Not to us, Lord, not to us but to Your name be the glory, because of Your love and faithfulness” -Psalm 115:1
Dear Friends of Young Life,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing today to share some important news. This summer, I will be stepping aside as the Area Director of Young Life in Murfreesboro. Though this has been a tough decision to make, it has become clear to me in the last couple of months that God is calling both me, and Young Life in Murfreesboro, into a new season. I will always be eternally grateful for my 22 years on Young Life staff at the helm of this wonderful organization and equally proud of the work we have accomplished as a community. I know that the best of Young Life in our incredible community is yet to come. I can’t wait to watch how it continues to grow and flourish, and, most importantly, continue to serve as a tool that God uses to make Himself known in the lives our adolescent friends.
You may be wondering what’s next. Well, I will tell you what’s next: adults and college students, who are in love with Jesus, will continue to step into the world and lives of high school kids and teen moms in our community, build authentic friendships in order to ‘earn the right to be heard’, and leverage that right to make known the Good News that there is a God who made them, who loves them, who knows them, and who desperately wants to be known by them. Staff and volunteers will continue to run excellent weekly clubs and small groups, and continue to take their friends on meaningful camp trip experiences. Though the leadership may be changing (some), the work of Young Life in Murfreesboro will not only continue to move forward, but, I believe, move into a new and greater season of impact. We still have a number of incredible staff people and incredible teams of volunteers and board members… not to mention the equally incredible community that has always surrounded this ministry in generosity and support. I have been blessed to have been called to steward this ministry these last 19 years in Murfreesboro.
As this transition plays out, we will be sure to keep you up to date as we look to add staff and restructure some of our existing staff roles. One thing I can tell you today: we’re immensely blessed to have our remaining staff members. Max McCoig, in his almost 3 years here as a full-time staff member, has proven to be gifted in connecting with kids, volunteers and the community. Since day one on the job, he’s been an injection of new life and energy to our organization; I’m excited to see him continue to grow in his leadership. I also know Miha Law, our office admin, to be an invaluable asset to Young Life, as one who leads and manages many of the events and administrative functions of our organization. And our part time staff, Anne Hines at Central, Michaela Ball at Rockvale, and Sabrina Vlahos with Young Lives, are leading a powerful group of 24 volunteer leaders.
As for me and my family, we’re not going anywhere. I am currently actively seeking what is next for me whether in ministry or in the marketplace and hope to land somewhere that allows me to continue to be in the Murfreesboro community. I will also continue my direct ministry involvement with kids through the end of the semester. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out to me or our board chairman, Brian Cox (706)409-1005.
Eternally Grateful,
Matt Thomas

MEET Saige, a leader at Oakland High School. This is her story and why she is a Young Life Leader!!
I am a young life leader because I feel called to be there for high schoolers the way my leaders had been there for me in highschool. I find that through leading I can not only build relationships with outstanding highschool girls but also draw closer to Jesus through Leadership. I have become even more excited to continue this part of my life and God amazes me everyday with His ability to guide me and my girls closer to Him. Young life has taught me that Jesus can use anything or anyone to further His kingdom, you just have to be willing to give it to Him. My favorite thing about younglife is being able to create amazing memories with my highschool girls all while watch them grow in relationship with Christ. Whether it be at camp, club, or just hangouts. Younglife has given me the opportunity to walk along the path God has paved for me. I can not wait to see what else He does !
The new year is here and we are so excited for what God is going to do this year!!! If you are looking a new and fun way to share the love of Christ with high schoolers being a Young Life leader could be the perfect thing for you! DM us if you would like to know more! 👏🏼🥳

MEET Cal, a Leader at Oakland High School. This is his story and why he is a Young Life Leader!!
I am a Young Life leader because of the great opportunity I get to build relationships with high schoolers and tell them about this great guy named Jesus! It was during my years as a high schooler that a leader showed me just how loving Jesus truly is, and because of that, I hope to reciprocate His love to high schoolers around me. Young Life has given me a place to love high schoolers who were broken, lost, and alone just as I was. I want them to know that there is someone who cares, because of the one who first cared for me. Young Life is so special to me because it has shown me the power of Jesus’s love and the importance of His grace. It has taught me how to step out of my comfort zone and be bold in the midst of unfamiliarity. Whether it’s showing up at baseball games, playing archery tag at weekend camp, or having the privilege to give a YL talk, I do it because I want my high school friends to know that they are loved endlessly by the creator of the universe!
