We’re honored to have the one and only cover Meant To Live complete with a full string arrangement! Recorded at Abbey Road Studios… yes THE Abbey Road, composed by the incredible John Metcalf (Peter Gabriel, Blur, Coldplay).

Years ago mentioned Switchfoot in a tweet as an inspiration for a song he was working on. I hit Bellion back to tell him that I’ve loved his stuff for years. Fast forward to this year- when we started re-recording The Beautiful Letdown; we had a lot of friends reach out with stories about how that album had impacted their lives- one of those friends was Bellion. He had this wild idea of recreating “Meant to Live”, his own version - using just his voice and strings.

I wrote “Meant To Live” on a loaner guitar, on a borrowed couch, in a tear-down, rented house. Hearing Abbey Road strings playing a John Metcalfe arrangement with Bellion’s voice singing those lyrics was sublime. The moment felt like an arrival. It’s like I’m hearing the song for the first time, and I wonder who wrote it, and where music even comes from.

I hope this song greets you like you like an old friend. I hope this song gives you a deep breath. Maybe your heart rate slows, you close your eyes, and you’re reminded of a bigger story.

When people can't think of requests I usually ask them where they are from and try to play an artist from their neck of the woods.

I was kind of disappointed that in almost two years of the pandemic I never really did much as far as writing and recording new music. But being locked away in a tiny room has been helpful. I brought my gear with me on this contract to try to hammer down on some recordings.
1. I’ve been working on a song for about 3 or 4 years that is a pop punk song I meant to be released as Summertime back when I was still in Nashville. I was fortunate to have Aaron Tosti (Pax217) to record drums and I have been in a slump finishing it but I can say I think I’m 90% there now!
2. I’ve been working on songs of many different genres. Emo worship, reggae, pop etc. I don’t want to be forced to just do one genre. I know many artists feel the same way but I’m sure not many artists are successful without focusing in one genre. So I’m not sure how to release those in the future. Currently I’m thinking of releasing them all in a compilation entitled “B-Sides The Pointe”
3. MY SPOTIFY QUIT WORKING!” I use Spotify every night to fall asleep to soothing sleep music. So I started recording my own sleep songs. And I have tested them out and they work. I fell asleep while working on one.

1. If you listen to meditative music to fall asleep hit me up and I’ll send you some that I’m working on and you can try it and let me know how they are.
2. I’m at the point where I can’t do anymore on some of these songs and I am going to need to get them mixed. If you are or know someone who mixes music for not too expensive let me know as I have a few different songs I want mixed but don’t have a huge budget for right now.

Happy Earth Day to the most beautiful planet I’ve ever been to! God has blessed me so much to be able to travel and see volcanoes erupt, giant mountains, deserts, beautiful beaches, and beautiful people from every corner of the globe. I can’t wait til I can get back and see even more.

Happy Gotcha Day to this good boy! Brody “Brobadiah” Goodlet. I was still on Radiance of The Seas so I didn’t get to meet him until May 11th. Everyone kept him a secret from me so after 40+ hours of exhausting travel to get home at around 4 am this little furball was waiting for me on the front porch.
