Med Surg RN Patrick Deaton is the winner of this quarter’s DAISY Award at North Alabama Shoals Hospital. Also known as the ‘PICC Line Guy’ Patrick was nominated for his kindness and compassion in caring for his patients. The patient who nominated Patrick stated, “he listened to me and treated me like a person, not just another patient.”
Patrick is truly deserving of this award, as his name is consistently brought up to leadership during rounds for his excellent clinical skills and positive personality.

Our Story
Today, the 178-bed, general acute care facility boasts spacious, private rooms for all patients as well as a 24-hour emergency department; mediccal/surgical inpatient units; and in intensive care and short-stay surgery units. Shoals Hospital also operates the area's only acute rehabilitation facility, the J.W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, and the Senior Care Center, the Shoals' only psychiatric unit dedicated to our senior adults.
