For me, anytime! All the time!
Yoga teaches us to pay attention to the nuances of our bodies. When we’ve been sitting for too long, when we’ve been moving too much - our body tells us how to counter it. Sleeplessness when going to bed is usually a sign of too much energy - energy that wasn’t expended during the day. Agitated legs at a desk usually indicates lack of blood flow. All these things mean GET UP AND MOVE! What about breathing??? I remember an athlete told me I sigh a lot. Sighing is the body’s chemoreceptors activating a deep inhale to obtain more oxygen - usually for wakefulness or thinking. I do sigh, often, especially before talking, public speaking or decision making.
MOVE YOUR BODY. ITS THE ONLY ONE YOU GOT.

I experienced this firsthand when I started incorporating a daily yoga routine into my life. Initially, I was skeptical about how much of a difference such a short practice could make. However, after just a few weeks, I noticed remarkable changes. My mind felt clearer, I could concentrate better on tasks, and my overall mental agility seemed sharper. The simple act of dedicating 20 minutes each day to yoga not only enhanced my physical flexibility but also brought a profound sense of mental clarity and peace. Just out here letting you know that the finish line means nothing. It’s up to you to move your own finish line every time you achieve great success. No one won by being complacent or boring. Achieving “the hard thing” allows you to achieve harder and harder things so when you look back at the first finish line, it’s so far back and so long ago, it’s east now. 🏆
I completed my first 200 hours of yoga training in about 4 months - graduating from my first program July 22, 2012. Happy day to me 🥇
I completed my next 700 hours from 2021-2023 and finished that in the fall of 2023.
Today, another 200 hours almost done - the final exam was a breeze and now it’s the sequencing of classes.
And in a few short months I’ll take a 300 hour training too.
The worst thing you could possibly to is think you made it and walk off.
Do the hard thing, take the class, climb the mountain and get over the hump. It’s totally worth it.

Practicing yoga has shown me that it's not just about fitting an activity into my schedule, it's about enriching every moment of my day. When I step onto my mat, I feel like I'm gaining time rather than spending it. The mindfulness and peace I find through yoga extend beyond the practice, making me more present and connected in everything I do. It's as if yoga expands my awareness and slows down the rush of life, allowing me to savor each moment. In this way, yoga truly gives me time, transforming my experience of the world around me.
This is interesting since just this quarter I added a new Core Theme to The Yoga Health Club about hydration. I was putting juicing and water intake into Nourishment, but it was too large of a topic.
Water is an integral part of our biology and the world we live in. Making sure that you are drinking and bathing in quality water is critical for our health.
Who has a whole house system they love? Do you filter your drinking water or “soften” your shower water?

Listen up! I am teaching yoga every single night this week and every single night next week except for Fridays! That means in the next two weeks be teaching 18 to 22 classes!
When this happens, I theme my classes by the week. Themes like abs, lunges (duh), squats (another duh), but also themes like “I am WARRIOR STRONG” where we do all kinds of warriors or “I AM OPEN AND ENGAGING” and all the poses are chest openers that require strength and focus to soften.
So, what will the themes be!? Guess you’ll have to show up and see! Also note: I’ll try not to wear the same outfit twice - challenge accepted! 🤣🤣🤣

Meanwhile, I was completely at home while finishing 36% of my first 200 hours to another 500 HR teacher training last night. I love that my home office is more like a playground + library + garden. Need to work on the desk asthetics but it’ll come around. 🤓

I sometimes struggle with introducing myself as "yoga instructor" or "personal trainer" because there is so much I can do outside of those two narrow definitions. My first love was being a certified athletic trainer and that morphed into being a high school teacher. Along the way I became a yoga instructor, personal trainer, acquired a fitness nutrition specialization and a meditation trainer. I became a notary to marry my best friends. I have a vast toolbox to pull from - how lucky am I?! But that makes it really hard to be concise for quick introductions, name tags or headings on resumes/LinkedIn, etc.
How would you introduce me? What is my title, to you? 🪷
In my yoga practice today, I truly felt the essence of Sakyong Mipham's words: "The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from stillness." As I flowed through each pose, my body awakened with every stretch and bend. The movements brought a sense of vitality and energy, reminding me of the strength and flexibility within.
When I settled into the final moments of stillness, my mind embraced the calm and peace that followed. The tranquility allowed me to reflect and find clarity, making me appreciate the harmony between movement and stillness. This balance in my practice left me feeling refreshed and centered, both physically and mentally. 🌿✨
