Keep our Pets food bank is dedicated to preventing domestic pets from entering the shelter system and allowing pets to remain in the home of their pet parents. We assist with food equipment and veterinary care as funds allows. We also educate and assist help to homeless pets in our community.

Thanks to the Doris Day Foundation's Grant we have "fixed" 35 cats & purchased 5,800 lbs of pet food for our clients.

Keep Our Pets Food Bank is a 501(C)3 non-profit, all volunteer charitable organization. We provide cat and dog food, as well as other needed items to the elderly and low income residences of Horry and Georgetown counties of South Carolina.

Myrtle Beach's paid parking season returns a week from today, Tuesday, March 1. New this year is a "text to park" feature which allows you to text your payment for parking. It was available in limited areas late last year, but now is offered for any city space. Just look for directions on the sign or meter near your parking space. You can also pay for parking through the Parkmobile phone app or directly at one of the pay stations or meters. Did you know… That Fred Nash Boulevard, which intersects Farrow Parkway near US 17, is named for a local resident who rescued an Air Force pilot whose T-33 trainer crashed and burned near the Myrtle Beach State Park pier in 1958? At age 71, Fred Nash rushed to the burning aircraft and helped the pilot to safety. Nash was seriously burned in the rescue. He later received the U.S. Air Force Exceptional Service Award in recognition of his heroic action.

Veterans, family members and friends of veterans...the next Veterans Awareness Series (VAS) is 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 6 ,at Chapin Memorial Library. The library hosts this informative, helpful seminar to aid local veterans with a supportive peer network that promotes health and well-being for our military veterans and their family members. This outreach program is led by Myrtle Beach Veterans Affairs Peer Support Specialist Bernard McLeroy and provides one-to-one and group sessions, educational classes, connections to community resources and other helpful services for veterans. Topics include counseling, re-entry, housing, mental health, education, compensation and employment.

PIZZA PARTY UPDATE!

Just 21 days left in the hurricane season and it's a snooze-fest out there.

Bottom-line, the hurricane season is effectively over for us so let's talk Pizza Party. In case you missed it, the party is planned for December 11th from 11am-2pm at Pelican Ballpark and yes, JIM CANTORE is coming! The planning continues and we'll be releasing details TOMORROW! We know that we will have live entertainment, Santa Claus and other characters available for photos, photos with Jim, contests, and fun stuff for the kiddos!

As I mentioned in a previous post, numerous pizza places have asked to be part of the event and want to donate pizza. Because of that outpouring of support, we want to make this a PIZZA PALOOZA where Pizza places set up a booth, promote their place and give away FREE pizza. We have 18 places so far and would love to have more. If you own or run a pizza place and are interested in participating, I want to hear from you. Shoot me an email ([email protected]) or message me on Facebook and I'll send you a link to a form to fill out to help us gauge interest. Imagine a stadium filled with numerous pizza places serving their very best. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Come hungry! The Myrtle Beach Food Truck Festival makes its return today, November 5 and tomorrw, November 6! It'll be from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. tomorrow and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, 907 North Oak Street.

Skate Safe is a class to learn how to properly ride a skateboard. Skateboard and
helmet required. Classes are every Monday, October 25th - December 20th from 4:30 pm - 5:15 pm at Matt Hughes Skate Park.

City Residents: $15 for 8 classes
Non-City Residents: $25 for 8 classes

Myrtle Beach's future skaters are fine-tuning their skills. 🛹 About a dozen kids enjoyed Chapin Memorial Library's Wednesday night event, 'Gnarly at the Library,' at Chapin Park after Ray Gurz shared his book, Jacob and Ridley Head to the Park. If you have a child who likes to skate...this Monday, October 25, the City of Myrtle Beach - Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism begins its Monday night skateboarding lessons at Matt Hughes Park, called 'Skate Safe.' Details below...

Skate Safe will teach you how to ride. A helmet is required. Classes begin Monday, October 25 and continue every Monday through December 20. 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Matt Hughes Skate Park, 33rd Avenue North.
City residents: $15 for eight classes
Non-city residents: $25 for eight classes
