Ocean Lakes works hard to make all of our guests comfortable. If you or someone in your family needs assistance getting to the beach, stop by the Recreation Office to pick up a beach wheelchair. These wheelchairs are equipped with large wheels to travel over the sand. The beach wheelchairs are first come, first serve and no charge. Guests cannot reserve them ahead of time. Beach wheelchairs can only be signed out in 3 hour increments.

Family is the reason we are here. And family values are as important to our founding family and team as they were when we opened our gates in 1971. As many of you know, over the last several years we have continued to see a steady increase in bad behavior from some guests during the busy season in the campground.

Our team is enhancing the existing policy, Quiet Hours (11 PM - 7 AM), due to the behavior of some of our guests. We want kids and golf cars off the streets by Midnight. This will assist our Security teammates as they strive to provide a safe, family-friendly environment and help them more easily identify potential problems and monitor our campground.

Our commitment to providing a safe, fun place for families remains stronger than ever. So, we are taking a stand. We are going old school: we're implementing curfews beginning Friday, May 24, 2024. Our team should not need to be disciplinarians, that’s the parents' responsibility.

Golf Car Curfew |
Ocean Lakes has a Midnight curfew for the operation of a Golf Car and other modes of transportation (such as e-bikes, bikes, scooters, etc.) during Spring Break weeks, from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day, and Halloweekends. These modes of transportation (golf cars, e-bikes, bikes, scooters, etc.) must return to their registered site by Midnight and will be subject to a $100 fine if operated from Midnight to 5 AM.

Age Curfew |
Guests under 21 years of age are subject to Ocean Lakes’ curfew and must return to their site by Midnight unless accompanied by an adult from their site or the guest (or their parent/guardian) will be subject to a $100 fine. This policy applies year-round from Midnight to 5 AM. Carrying an ID is recommended.
We apologize to those good teenagers and their parents – we see you, and we truly appreciate you setting an example for others.
More information on these new policy additions can be found on our website. We have printed material about the new policies available at most campground buildings to assist our guests and Leaseholders.

Garden City Beach, SC – May 13, 2024 - Lee Hewitt, co-chairman of the Murrells Inlet Boat Parade, along with Christina Burzler, CEO of Brickyard Marketing, are pleased to announce details for the 41st Annual Murrells Inlet Boat Parade, proudly sponsored by the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk Group. “We are honored to support this amazing event once again this year that so many families have come to know and love and have included into their annual family traditions over the years. We are especially honored to have been chosen to help organize this event beginning this year in addition to our amazing fireworks display that we are known for. As the original boat parade committee have dwindled over the years, we are so glad to step up to help keep this staple event alive.” stated The Murrells Inlet MarshWalk’s spokesperson and CEO of Brickyard Marketing, Christina Burzler.

This year’s theme is Red, White, and View.

The parade will start at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at the point of Garden City Beach and make its way through Murrells Inlet. The MarshWalk Group cautions participants that high tide is not until after 8 p.m. Therefore, boats should consider water depth while navigating the route.

The MarshWalk Group will continue to waive the boat entry fee to encourage more participation. Likewise, awards will not be distributed this year.
Preferred viewing areas are along the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, Belin United Methodist Church, and Morse Park Landing.

T-shirts will be available for purchase, $10 each, with proceeds benefiting the Belin United Methodist Church Boy Scout Troop 396. Locations for purchase are to be announced via the Murrells Inlet Boat Parade page.

The Murrells Inlet Boat Parade would like to remind participants and spectators to protect our coastal wetlands and refrain from littering during this event. In addition, boat and dock decorating participants are asked to avoid incorporating elements into their design that involve throwing objects into the water, including water balloons, which pollute the environment and harm the local wildlife. Throwing water balloons and obstructing the parade route is prohibited to keep this event, the participants, and the guests in attendance safe at all times.
