Happy Mother’s Day to all the great moms, especially the moms who raised a fireman !

Happy New Year ! 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

Last night the Nanuet Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire in the Bardonia section of our district. First arriving crews found a well involved attic fire and made an aggressive interior attack to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the house. Firefighters battled not only the flames but also the extreme cold. Luckily all occupants were able to evacuate the house without injury because the family dog alerted them to the fire. Unfortunately this family has suffered an incredible loss to their house and property right before Christmas. In an amazing display of community support a go fund me was created to help the family in this time of need. Today we Celebrate our 162nd Anniversary ! December 18th 1860, the nine original members came together to form a fire company to protect their neighbors. Now 162 years later members of our community still volunteer and protect the Hamlet of Nanuet.

The Nanuet Fire Department would like to thank the Redeeming Love Christian Center of Nanuet for continually donating pies and deserts to our volunteer firefighters every year to celebrate the holiday season. #thankful

Last night the Nanuet Fire Department completed part 2 of the Flashover training class at the Rockland County Fire Training Center. This class teaches our firefighters about the dangers of a flashover event, and how to recognize the changing fire conditions which could lead to flashover. Members got to see first hand just how quickly a flashover can occur.

Come stop down at the Nanuet Fire House, 29 old Middletown Rd., from 12-3pm today. All ages are welcomed, come learn about fire prevention to keep your family safe in the event of a fire and how you can become a volunteer firefighter and help your community.

On this symbolic day, may we celebrate our freedom, salute those who made this possible and keep it safe, and stand in unity as a nation. Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸

As far as birthday drive-by’s go they are few and far between these days, once a Covid norm is now a thing of the past. However today our Chaplain Emeritus; Deacon John Maloney turned 98 years young. With the assistance from Clarkstown Police Department we thought it only fitting to show him the proper happy birthday by emptying the entire firehouse and take a ride past his home. This May John will celebrate 42 years as a member of our Department. We wish him a very happy 98th birthday!

Earlier today The Nanuet Fire Department provided a flag detail at the Route 59 overpass of the NYS Thruway, as the motorcade of fallen NYS Trooper Joseph Gallagher drove up to Buffalo. Trooper Gallagher was assisting a driver whose vehicle broke down on Dec. 18, 2017, when he was struck on an overpass connected to the Long Island Expressway.

This afternoons birthday “drive by” for Firefighter Dante Martini Thank you to all helped make this possible.

Today a very emotional week for family and friends of the Nanuet Fire Department came to an abrupt but fitting end as we laid to rest our brother Firefighter and 67 year a Life Member Paul Demoa. Like so many others that have passed on before him Paul received the highest honor of taking his last ride on the Nanuet Fire Engine Company’s antique fire truck, a 1954 Ward La France; 8-750. As the rain fell on his casket that sat high a top 8-750 driven by Life Member Norman Peters, his fellow firefighters stood guard by his side as he took his final ride past the main fire station for his last alarm. Then onto St. Anthony’s Shrine Church for the funeral mass where he served as an usher every Sunday morning at 7am mass. Paul served his community as well as his country and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. May he Rest In Peace.

We are all set up and ready to go! Make sure to come stop by our firehouse at 29 Old Middletown Rd. From 12-3 for our Fire Prevention Open House.

This evening 1/18 shortly after 8PM the Nanuet Fire Department accepted delivery of our new 2018 HME AHRENS-FOX Mini Pumper. In the coming weeks we will be training to have 8-MP in service by early February. This mini pumper will be an asset to our fleet of vehicles and will enable us to continue to provide the residents of Nanuet and Bardonia exceptional fire protection.
