Utica National Insurance Group
Kia and Hyundai’s Response to Recent Thefts
The member companies of the Utica National Insurance Group care about our customers’ safety. Our records show that you drive a Kia or Hyundai, and your vehicle may be at risk following a recent surge in thefts due to a viral social media video that shows how these vehicles can start without a key.
Kia and Hyundai have released guidance for free software upgrades, some as early as this month. The upgrades should prevent vehicles’ engines from starting without a key.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) urges vehicle owners to contact their automaker at the numbers listed below for information on eligibility and timing for the update:
Hyundai: 800-633-5151
Kia: 800-333-4542
Keep these tips in mind when parking and exiting your vehicle:
Close and lock all windows and doors.
Park in well-lit areas, if possible.
Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially if they can be seen from outside the vehicle.
Please contact your automaker as soon as possible to schedule the recommended software upgrade.
There are plenty of distractions out on the roads, whether it be answering a text, picking your favorite music, setting your navigation, drinking coffee, and more.
Please eliminate all distractions, drive responsibly, and keep everyone safe. And remind family and friends, if they are in the driver's seat, driving is the only thing they should be doing. No distractions!
Q: When there is no sidewalk, should I walk with traffic or against traffic?
A: Against Traffic, and as far to the left as possible. Which means you should be looking at the driver of the vehicle on our side of the street

Dangerous Holiday Weekend for Cyber Crime - Connected World Dangerous holiday weekend for cybercrime.
As Holloween comes to a close this evening, we now enter the Holidays, where there are lots of lights and cooking for the holidays. During this time, there are several fire related hazards. A few major hazards could be:
1. Letter your life tree dry out and catching fire
2. Over loading plug outlets or extension cords
3. Not keeping an eye on your stove . oven while cooking
The above are only a few of the most common causes of fires. Attached are some Fire Preparedness from the American Red Cross to help you.
As everyone celebrates Holloween today & this evening, we ask that you take your time when driving, especially in residential areas, and wants for children on the sidewalks, in the roads and darting between cars. Nothing is worse than taking a small childs life (or anyones life), just because you are in a rush to get home, or your destination.
Stay safe and enjoy yourselves while you are out, and don't eat too much of that candy.
See attached e-mail received by our office on what our client had to say about us. It's always nice to to receive such a nice e-mail. Thank you for the review Rose
