Deshawna Anderson (White Mountain Ndeé [Apache]/Apsáalooke [Crow]) is the artist behind the Courage To Bloom Blanket. Deshawna attended Little Big Horn College in Crow Agency, Montana, where she studied Business Administration. She is of the Butterfly Clan and is a child of the Greasy Mouth. As a visual learner, she became interested in art as a tool to share the perspective of its creator. Influenced by Apache and Crow culture from the Crazy Mountains to Salt River Canyon, she also draws inspiration from historic and contemporary burden baskets, beadwork, quillwork, and attire.
Courage to Bloom was created in partnership with the American Indian College Fund, a nonprofit organization that helps fund scholarships for Native American students and tribal colleges. A portion of proceeds from this blanket's sales goes to support their mission.

Our new collection with Stanley celebrates craftmanship and timeless patterns.
Serape blankets are inspired by the famous stripes of Saltillo, Mexico. The newest additions to our collection are woven in rich archival hues.

Today, we are celebrating the work of our partners at the American Indian College Fund. The American Indian College Fund supports community-based accredited tribal colleges and universities that offer students access to knowledge, skills and cultural values that enhance their communities and the country as a whole. For over 20 years, Pendleton has joined their mission with a collection of College Fund blankets, and the Pendleton endowment, to help fund scholarships to students. So far, over $1 million dollars in scholarships have been funded for 1,288 American Indian and Alaska Native students at all 35 tribal college and universities.
Two College Fund scholars have designed two blankets in the collection: Courage to Bloom by Deshawna Anderson and Unity by Chelysa Owens-Cyr. A third blanket will be introduced next year.

The Bridger Wool Throw can go where you go. An easy-to-transport blanket with two different looks: a predominantly solid color on one side, with bold stripes on the other.
Voice of the Body by Andre Walker is a new addition to the Pendleton blanket collection. The blanket (left) is a translation of Andre's original painting (right). Walker painted Voice of the Body in his Brooklyn studio and, following a desire to have it come to life, chose to partner with Pendleton on creating this wool blanket. "I just feel very proud. It goes with everything that I dream about, and everything I am in love with," said Walker.
