Acton Children's Business Fair at Arrow Accelerated Academy
The Children's Business Fair is an opportunity for kidpreneurs to bring their business ideas to life!
Dear Kidpreneurs and Families,
Due to an unforeseen loss of event space, Arrow Accelerated Academy will be canceling the Acton Children’s BUsiness fair on Saturday, June 30th, 2024. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm for supporting young entrepreneurs and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your family.
The good news is that Acton Children's Business Fairs take place all over our area (and the world) throughout the year. Please visit the Acton Children’s Business Fair website to find dates for local fairs in Naperville and Geneva!
Your $25 table reservation fee will be refunded to you via Omella. Please look for that refund in the next 7-10 days.
Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding these changes.
Gratefully,
The Acton Children’s Business Fair @ Arrow Accelerated Academy Team

👋Oh hey! Can you help us out?
Arrow Accelerated Academy only has a few spots remaining for next year, and we're looking for some extraordinary learners and their families to fill them.
Do you know any kids who...
-have a desire to be challenged academically
-feel frustrated or "held back" by traditional academic opportunities
-are deeply curious about their world and willing to take the time to search for the answers to their questions
-can take an initial set of instructions or "call to action" and run with it
-are a problem solvers (and can figure out a solution when they hit a roadblock without immediately asking an adult for help)
-participate actively in discussions and enjoy friendly debate
-are willing to strive for mastery (they want to learn from their mistakes and try again)
-can handle having a great deal of freedom and choice in their daily routine
-enjoy being given important responsibilities
-have leadership qualities that need to be fostered
Spots are filling, but... ...we still have a few openings reserved for extraordinary learners and their families.
The judges made their rounds, and the winners of this year’s prizes were announced!
Most Original Idea: The Kid’s Den
Best Booth Design: Nalibop
Best Overall Food: NoLac
Beat Overall Arts/Crafts: The Wild Moose Apothecary
ALL of our young entrepreneurs did an amazing job today! We hope they feel so proud!
Thank you to our judges!

Did you know building businesses from the ground up is just one of the AMAZING things that our learners at Arrow Accelerated Academy do EVERY DAY at our school?
Last month, our learners spent three weeks building a business plan, prototyping their products, and exploring marketing tactics before pitching their business proposals "Shark Tank Style" in front of local entrepreneurs, families, and friends.
Does this sound like the type of hands-on learning your child would LOVE to do? Let's talk! www.arrowacton.com
Special thanks again to these local entrepreneurs:

David - BJJ Lab Elmhurst

JUDGE'S SPOTLIGHT!
Bridget is the owner of Red Hive Market in Batavia, Illinois. She launched her business in 2019, just months before the start of the pandemic, and had to quickly adapt her business to meet the needs of consumers during and after a global pandemic. Bridget is proud to represent a female and Latina-owned local business!
What is the best part of being an entrepreneur? The best part of being an entrepreneur is the opportunity to support our community! As owner of Red Hive Market, if I want to donate to our local PTOs, for example, I don't have to ask for permission from 'corporate' --- as long as it's in our budget, we just do it!
What is the most challenging part of being an entrepreneur? The most challenging part of entrepreneurship is keeping up with changing trends. This includes changes in technology - do we have the most efficient POS (point of sale) system? Are we keeping up with social media demands? How else can we reach online shoppers?
What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs? My advice to young entrepreneurs is DON'T GIVE UP! If what you're currently doing isn't working, PIVOT! Change it up...but don't throw in the towel!

JUDGE'S SPOTLIGHT!
Sara comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, and knows what it takes to succeed as a business owner. Sara has put her entrepreneurial talents to work in many different areas, from working to build a law firm, start a coffee shop, manage a franchise, and being an advocate for the importance of consuming clean food and products!
What is the best part of being an entrepreneur? The best part about being an entrepreneur is the respect you get when you tell people that. People know the risk it takes, money, blood sweat and tears it takes and I would save not many have the mental bandwidth to endure the emotions that come with handling all of that. The thing is, you don't even start out with much in all respects but you earn it all with time and momentum. That, and I would say if you can find the right balance in conducting your own business and have freedom to be home by 5pm for dinner with your family, then that's success.
What is the most challenging part of being an entrepreneur? The most challenging part about being an entrepreneur is to get your mind practicing on how to constantly adapt to new changes. The world, yourself and your business should never stop evolving in order to keep up and therefore never should you. I remember when we had franchised a Canadian Market & Deli into the States, we had multiple conversations about how we had to bring our solid concept, yet conform slightly to the local community in order to better serve them. We saw the proof in the pudding when we opened on day 1 at $500 in sales and exactly 3 years later, we were pushing a $1Million in sales. If we didn't adapt to our surroundings, we would've closed our doors sooner. I'm glad we didn't give up.
What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs? My best advice would be, first, to always read. Read business in your field and from others that aren't even relative. You never know what you can learn from that person or obstacle on their journey. Secondly, always be ready to look up and connect with people. Robots are never going to buy from you. It will be people. It will be your surrounding and nowadays global community who are connecting with your services and products. We've come to a place where we constantly have our phones in our faces. Whatever it is, budget your time accordingly for that. But when you're in public, be ready to make eye contact, remember peoples' names and faces, and truly connect on what brought you all to that very moment.

JUDGE'S SPOTLIGHT!
Francesca is a financial advisor, doing work to help people figure out the best ways to spend and save their money. She helps people plan for their future so they can achieve the goals they have for themselves and their families.
What is the best part of being an entrepreneur? Being able to see the difference your work makes in the lives of others. When I was in corporate roles, I accomplished a lot, but I was removed from customers.
What is the most challenging part of being an entrepreneur? Knowing when to take a break. Your efforts are DIRECTLY tied to your success in entrepreneurship, but it's important to take care of yourself too.
What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs? Understand the differences between hobbies, side hustles, and full-time employment. Taking the leap to running your business is exciting and seems very attractive; just make sure you're doing it for the right reasons.
