Self-love doesnโt always come naturally - itโs a culmination of various factors that require conscious effort.
But have you ever thought, how are you supposed to love yourself genuinely?
Well, thereโs two main steps:
Step 1: Identify your needs
We all have basic needs like security, food, and shelter. But there are needs beyond that, such as knowledge, justice, getting to places on time, or even privacy.
These needs are what make you unique.
Step 2: Realize your needs as real
For instance, you feel you need emotional connection with your partner, donโt label this as being โannoying.โ That need is real, itโs yours.
Hereโs what the whole process looks like:
By identifying your needs, you create your self-concept.
By acknowledging your needs, you become your own hero.
Self-love is cultivated from completing these processes.

Anxious attachment stems from a fear of abandonment and the insecurity of feeling under-appreciated.
Dating with an anxious attachment style can be challenging. Previous experiences may make it hard to trust those close to you, including romantic partners. This can lead to unhealthy possessiveness, or dependency.

What is imposter syndrome?
Imposter syndrome is doubting our own abilities, or attributing our achievements to luck rather than effort.
Itโs most common to feel like this when weโre stepping out of our comfort zone.
Hereโs a reminder - Embrace your achievements!

Overthinking can feel rough.
Overthinking can be a way we ignore other uncomfortable feelings - emotions like disappointment, confusion, sadness or grief.
Itโs important to remember that thinking through a problem isnโt bad, however, ruminating can lead to us feeling tired and overwhelmed.
If overthinking is your default coping method, give this a try:
When you notice yourself overthinking and realize it's not productive, slow down by taking a deep breath in and out.
Then ask yourself, โAm I trying to avoid feeing something else right now?โ
Next, find the chance to allow yourself to sit with the uncomfortable feeling.
Ask yourself, โWhat sensations and emotions do I notice?โ
This is a way we can help instill clarity.

PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) affects 3.6% of the U.S. adult population - about 9 million individuals.
As part of PTSD Awareness Month, we want to shed light on what PTSD may look like.
Traumatic events like accidents, assaults, military combat, or natural disasters can leave long-lasting effects on a personโs mental health.
While some may experience short-term reactions to a certain event, others develop long-term symptoms that may lead to PTSD.

Do these phrases sound familiar?
We understandโanxiety can be overwhelming.
When we take a step back, we realize that anxiety is often our mind's way of trying to protect us. It's the part of us that feels fear, worry, or overwhelm, sensing a threat and working hard to "survive."
Our thoughts can spiral, pulling us into an anxious rabbit hole, but remember, this is normal. You're not alone, and there are ways to support yourself both physically and mentally to manage it better.
Next time you feel anxious, try this simple grounding exercise: Take a deep breath, then name five things you can see, four things you can touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste.
We're here to help you on this journey. ๐

Here are a few ideas to support your nervous system!
Consider these strategies based on your state and feeling:
When you're in a โfight or flightโ mode, calming your nervous system can be crucial. Using a weighted blanket or engaging in calming yoga can help reduce arousal.
At other times, you might feel the need to โwake upโ or combat a โshut downโ state. Activities like dancing, listening to upbeat music, or exercising can increase arousal.
Remember to share and save this for when you need it!

As part of Pride Month, letโs take a look at the history of the Pride Flag! ๐ณ๏ธโ๐
The original Pride Flag was created in the 1970s by gay activist Gilbert Baker, friend of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California.
The Pride Flag colors each hold a different meaning, and each color represents an important value of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Then in 2017, we saw the Progress Pride Flag.
The meaning of this new flag is meant to represent people of color, as well as people who are transgender, intersex, or non-binary. The colors added were: Black, Brown, Pink, Light Blue, & White.
The goal for the Progress Flag was to show inclusivity, symbolize progress made, and that we have more strides to make.

Habits are the foundation of growth and change, and the process of building a habit can be broken down into four steps: cue, craving, response, and reward.
A cue tells your brain to start a behavior. It's a piece of information that signals a potential reward. Since the cue is the first sign that a reward is near, it naturally leads to a craving.
Cravings are the second step and serve as the motivational force behind a habit. They transform a cue into a desire through our thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
The third step is the responseโthe actual habit you perform. This can be either a thought or an action.
Finally, the response delivers a reward. Rewards are positive reinforcement - they encourage us to do more of the good habit.
Remember - 'rewards' can simply be a good feeling.

Here are a few ways we can reduce brain fatigue:
1. Maintain Healthy Expectations Of Yourself
This looks like -
Asking yourself, โmy daily goals achievable, or do they need to be re-worked?โ
Asking yourself, โWhat needs to be prioritized?โ
2. Set Healthy Boundaries
This looks like -
Saying โNoโ to the things you donโt want to do without feeling selfish, guilty, or anxious.
Not overcommitting, making sure you leave room for yourself to breathe.
3. Check-In With Yourself
This looks like -
Journal your thoughts.
Talk to someone you trust.
Keep yourself accountable.
