My Story
Teaching has always been my passion. As a young child, I always played teacher with my friends and sister. In middle school, I started babysitting and loved being around kids and teaching them new things. In high school, I started nannying in the summer and my passion for teaching children grew. Therefore, I went to Illinois State University to get my degree in Elementary Education.
Currently I am a first grade teacher. I have been teaching for 7 years. I have also taught second grade and beginner Spanish. I love teaching young students and seeing them grow and succeed. My favorite part is when they have the "lightbulb" or "ah-ha" moment. Math is one of my favorite subjects! There are so many ways to do math and I love helping my students find the best strategies for them. I love the hands-on aspect of math and I love to include games in a child's learning.
Also, I have Master’s degree in Reading from Olivet Nazarene University. I enjoying teaching Literacy. Learning to read is so much fun! I love helping students improve their vocabulary and phonics skills so they can be great readers! Writing and grammar are important skills all students must know. Thus as an elementary teacher, I am always finding the best ways to teach all my unique students!
