Coronavirus. It can be a fear provoking phrase. Are you scouring the internet finding new ways to be afraid? Coming up with what-if scenarios that only make your anxiety over this worse? You are not alone in this. Psychology Today article states "Uncertainty is one of the most difficult human experiences. Uncertainty means not having control over what might happen to us." They have come up with the acronym FLARE to help think through these fearful times rationally. F-Feel. L-Label. A-Allow. R-respond. E-expand awareness. The goal of their new approach is to "allow yourself to experience uncertainty, disengage from attempts to get rid of it, and allow yourself to respond to the discomfort of uncertainty in helpful ways".

What is LORETA neurofeedback? — Fixxl Ltd 02/29/2020

3-Dimensional sLORETA Z Score Neurofeedback: Z Score sLORETA biofeedback of Brodmann areas in the brain, “Hubs”, “Modules” and “Default Mode Network” and 3-dimensional locations registered to a reference MRI. Includes ‘Live’ LORETA Coherence & Phase Differences from 88 Brodmann areas. The neurofeedback protocol is based on a symptom checklist combined with sLORETA Z scores measured during a QEEG analysis to aid in linking patient’s symptoms and complaints to functional specialization in the brain.

LORETA Source Correlations:
Compute the time series spatial-temporal correlation between a MRI registered region of interest (ROI) and other regions of the brain. View the strength of spatial-temporal correlation in 2-D color contour maps that order the distance from the reference ROI in centimeters over 1 to 40 Hz. Use the Key Institute Viewer to display the source correlation from a reference ROI in 1 Hz increments co-registered to the Montreal Neurological Institute’s standardized MRI.
3-D Source Analysis – Mouse click activation of LORETA source analysis to help evaluate the sources of focal events in the EEG. Frequency domain and time domain analyses of EEG events like spikes & waves, spindles, beta bursts, theta bursts, as well as FFT analyses are standard in NeuroGuide™ deluxe. LORETA normative database comparisons are an add on product.

3-D Source Correlations – Evaluate the correlations between 66 different regions of interest with Brodmann area mapping and conformity to the standards of the human brain mapping program with Talariach atlas coordinates for easy integration with PET, SPECT and fMRI.

For young children, getting hurt is just a part of life. Unfortunately suffering from a concussion or traumatic brain injury (TBI) from said injury is becoming much more common. From 2010-2015, concussion diagnoses among tweens and teens ages 10-19 skyrocketed 71%. These seemingly mild head injuries can be devastating in ways you might not imagine, the consequences that can extend far beyond the initial blow to cause a lasting and negative impact on a child’s life.

Accepting difficult thoughts and emotions as part of life allows you to move forward and pursue your goals and embody your values. Research suggests the harder we try to dismiss difficult thoughts and emotions, the more intense they can become and the longer they will stay with us. Increasing psychological flexibility tends to correspond with lower levels of psychological distress. Lower psychological flexibility corresponds to much higher levels of anger, stress, worry, depression and other feelings that diminish quality of life. We can often identify factors that may contribute to psychological inflexibility in a QEEG. We can also train the brain to be more adaptable and flexible which increases psychological flexibility. An electroencephalograph uses precious metal electrodes to detect a voltage between at least two electrodes located on the scalp, The EEG records both excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs) and inhibitory postsynaptic potentials (IPSPs) that largely occur in dendrites in pyramidal cells located in macrocolumns, several millimeters in diameter, in the upper cortical layers. EEG biofeedback, which is also called neurofeedback, monitors both slow and fast cortical potentials. Slow cortical potentials are gradual changes in the membrane potentials of cortical dendrites that last from 300 ms to several seconds. These potentials include the contingent negative variation (CNV), readiness potential, movement-related potentials (MRPs), and P300 and N400 potentials. Fast cortical potentials range from 0.5 Hz-100 Hz. The main frequency ranges include delta, theta, alpha, the sensorimotor rhythm, beta, and gamma as shown in The synchronous delta rhythm ranges from 0.5-3.5 Hz, is the dominant frequency from ages 1-2, and is associated in adults with deep sleep and brain pathology like trauma and tumors, and learning disability. The synchronous theta rhythm ranges from 4-7 Hz, is the dominant frequency in healthy young children, and is associated with drowsiness or starting to sleep, REM sleep, hypnagogic imagery (intense imagery experienced before the onset of sleep), hypnosis, attention, and processing of cognitive and perceptual information.

Magnesium – The Triple Threat Supplement for Mood, Memory & Sleep 12/21/2018

The Standard American Diet (SAD), also called the Western Pattern Diet (WPD), lacks many essential nutrients and is loaded with foods that can be detrimental to your health. These foods are often associated with a smaller hippocampus, the part of the brain used for memory function. This diet is typically linked to common conditions and chronic illnesses including diabetes, heart disease, obesity, metabolic disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Many Americans are missing out on healthy foods in their diet, such as: fruits, vegetables, fish, beans, nuts, seeds and poultry. Grains should be used sparingly since they convert quickly into sugars. One nutrient most Americans are deficient in is magnesium. Magnesium is necessary for all our cells to make and use energy. It maintains our DNA and gene structure and is required for more than 600 enzyme reactions in the body. Magnesium stimulates electrical activity in the brain and aids the brain’s ability to process information. Magnesium insufficiency is linked to poor muscle tone and greater chance of cramping or spasming. Clinical evidence also links low magnesium intakes to other brain, heart, circulatory, bone and joint problems. Individuals with intestinal or kidney problems, people who drink alcohol, those with poor blood sugar control, and the elderly are all more likely to be magnesium-deficient.

Changing the electrical patterns of abnormal brain waves also changes the functioning. That means that the brain changes its function in order to change its patterns and gets rid of whatever problem is causing the issue such as adhd.

Your brain is 80% water, so avoid anything that dehydrates it—such as caffeine or alcohol. Being dehydrated by just 2% impairs performance in tasks that require attention, immediate memory skills, and physical performance. Since water helps flush toxins from your body, it’s recommended that you drink three to four quarts of reverse osmosis or filtered (with charcoal) water every day. We serve Kangen alkaline water with every session.

Sustained effects of neurofeedback in ADHD: a systematic review and meta-analysis 06/16/2018

Neurofeedback is becoming less of an alternative treatment and more mainstream. It has thousands of peer reviewed research articles showing significant positive long last no side effects results.
