A fundraising event to help the recovery of and to support the family of Justin McGill, Thoracic Cardiac Aneurysm Survivor. www.justinmcgill.eventbrite.com
Click on the "About" link below to read more. Justin “Judd” McGill, a Narragansett native, is an active forty-one year old father of three who was swimming his daily laps at the Wakefield YMCA on Friday, February 15th when he felt severe pain in his chest. After being rushed to South County Hospital, a CAT scan revealed that Judd was suffering from a Thoracic Cardiac Aneurysm – an immanent life-th
reatening situation and was immediately air lifted to Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA for open-heart surgery. After a successful eight-hour surgery, which involved replacing three inches of his ascending aorta and heart valve, bio-medical replacements (parts of a cow!) were put in place. He came through the surgery better than anyone could have thought and doctors said he will be better than 100% when he is fully recovered. The survival rate for this medical emergency is less than 1% - we are incredibly lucky to have Judd with us today. The recovery time for this surgery is seven months in which Judd will not be able to return to work. This fundraiser is being held to help raise funds for the McGill family to help with medical costs, food and anything else he may need during his time of healing. We thank you in advance for contributing to this cause and look forward to celebrating life, family and friends with you. Date and Venue coming soon…
