Tuesday Tiny Tutorial #2: The Chain Stitch
In most cases, you’ll need to chain to start any project. After you put your slip knot on the hook, you’ll wrap the working yarn clockwise around the hook, from front to back, turn the hook so the yarn catches, and pull it back through the loop that’s already on the crochet hook. Take your time, if you need to—speed and consistency come with practice!
What’s the longest chain you all have had to crochet? Pretty sure mine is somewhere around 300, but I kept losing count (thanks to the lovely distractions I call my children) so it felt more like over a thousand by the time I was done! 🤣
Tuesday Tiny Tutorial #1: the slip knot
There are a few different methods for making a slip knot, and while this method isn’t the one I typically use, I do think it’s great for beginners!
Are any of you still trying to master the slip knot? Try this method out and let me know what you think in the comments!
For a long time now, I’ve been making a list of video content I want to share with you all, but keep convincing myself of reasons I “can’t right now.” But today, I’m not letting anything stop me—I’m determined to get some videos to post, even if it’s just a few mini refresher stitch tutorials!
What stitches or other content/questions would you like me to cover?
Although I’ve been quiet on social media, I’ve still been trudging along behind the scenes, keeping up with family, home, work, and life in general, but I’ve still been teaching classes and trying to get my crafty fixes in whenever possible!
It’s been quite a while since I’ve had the motivation or the time and energy to actually complete a project, but I just finished this 4th of July dress for my daughter—complete with a matching one for her doll! I’m so excited with how it came out; I can’t wait to make another. 🥰
What’s the latest project you’ve completed, or if you haven’t finished one recently, what’s next on your crafty wishlist?
I had a craft date with a friend yesterday and it gave me an excuse to pull out all my metal stamping supplies and make up some prototypes of something I’ve been wanting to make for a while now! The basic idea is to have little clips that will remind you what hook size or stitch you’re using to put on projects if you can’t finish in one sitting. It’s something I definitely need since I am constantly tweaking any pattern I follow. 😅
What do you think of them? What types of things would you need reminding for?
I have a thing about throwing away containers that can be reused (I hate it!) but it becomes a problem when they pile up and I never find a use for them. As I was looking at this pickle jar, I thought it would make a perfect container for scrap yarn! So, after every project, if there is not enough for another project, but more than I’m comfortable throwing away, I’ll toss it in the jar. Then, when it’s stuffed to the brim, I’ll use them to start a scrappy afghan!
A yarn ring makes knitting in the continental style even easier! 🥰 Are you a picker or a thrower?
This is an amazing giveaway! 🤩

On an impulse, I bought a handmade crochet hook from a shop on Etsy. It finally arrived, and I realized it actually came from Russia. And the shop owner included a Russian chocolate with my order! 🥰 I’m still debating if I want to try the chocolate or keep it as a souvenir. 🤣 But I’ll be using the hook right away!
Do any of you have any handmade hooks?
Sometimes it’s just a “whipped cream” type of day. ☕️ 💖 How do you get yourself motivated to work on your projects?
I saw some rainbow variegated yarn and just had to have it! 🥰 They’re on the smaller side, so I’m trying to decide what I should make with them! What do you all think?
The corner to corner (C2C) stitch is so simple and looks so pretty with this rainbow variegated yarn!
At tomorrow’s Knit in the Park, we’ll be knitting up these tiny pouches. Join me at Thornton Park at 11 am! 🥰
This week’s video is how to do the half double crochet stitch! It’s a popular stitch to use when making clothing because it’s dense, like the single crochet, but a little more flexible. Have any of you ever tried this stitch?

I love using the big yarns and needles—things work up so quickly with them! These are size 70 (35mm) needles. If you’ve knitted or crocheted, what is the biggest size needle or hook you’ve worked with so far?
New pattern, coming soon. 🥰✨
We’re all set up! 🥰
So I kind of (read: really) hated going live 😅 so I re-recorded what I covered in that video. I can’t lie, I don’t think I’ll be doing any lives again any time soon. I also thought it would be more convenient to have the cast-on and cast-off/finishing in one video. If you watch it, let me know what you think of my tiny pumpkin (with a huge stem! 🤣) Thank you all so much for supporting me through all of my learning curves. 💖

I’ve decided both in-person events will be at Thornton Park this month. They will most likely be the last in-person events of the year, since it’s going to start getting colder!
I’ll be putting together November’s class list soon. What type of classes are you hoping to see?
