And for something lighter... On my birthday recently, my wife showed how well she knows me. 😂
The Health/Life agent in me also wants to remind you that peanut butter is an excellent source of the good fats your body needs. But go easy on it because there's also a lot of sugar in it. ⚠️

With the official start of spring coming soon, the weather will be improving and more runners and walkers will be hitting the sidewalks or streets. Driving with headlights on during gray days or inclement weather and being hyper-aware of your surroundings may help you see them.
Pedestrians can help their visibility by wearing bright or reflective colors, looking both ways before crossing an intersection or crosswalk.
Sharing the road can be safe and fun!

So... you missed Open Enrollment but still need Health Insurance. And you're not sure if Short Term Medical is a good option? Here are some reasons it may be a GREAT option for you:
👍Adjustable terms and deductibles to fit your budget and needs.
👍Coverage for urgent care and ER visits.
👍Lower cost as compared to ACA compliant plans
👍Portability; plans are valid across state lines and offer the security of coverage wherever you may go.
👍No-wait coverage. Your plan can be active in as little as one day.
👍Options that include doctor's office and prescription co-pays.
👍The freedom to apply at any time of year. Coverage when you want it.
Hope this helps and, as always, reach out to me if you have any questions!

❓FAQ❓ Should I buy the health plan my college offers or buy a Marketplace plan during Open Enrollment?
💡ANSWER💡 There's no right or wrong answer here. A few things to consider:
1️⃣ If your college is like the vast majority, your Student Health Plan WILL cover pre-existing conditions like Marketplace plans do, which is great if you have health concerns from the past.
2️⃣ Marketplace subsidies cannot be used toward student insurance. But student loans and scholarships, if available, can typically be used to cover the cost of the student health plan, since it will be bundled with the rest of the student’s college expenses.
3️⃣ You have an option to remain on your parents’ health plan until you turn 26, regardless of whether your parents claim you as a dependent for tax purposes. Just make sure their plan’s network includes hospitals and doctors in the area where you’re going to school.
Feel free to message me with more detailed questions.

❓FAQ❓ Is Social Security considered income when I’m enrolling in a plan through the exchange ("marketplace")?
💡ANSWER💡 Yes. Social Security income is included in the calculation to determine your subsidy eligibility.
To get your modified adjust gross income (MAGI, which is often referred to as “household income” when we talk about subsidy-eligibility), start with your adjusted gross income (AGI) from your tax return. Then there are three things that must be added to your AGI if any of them apply to you:
1️⃣Non-taxable Social Security income.
2️⃣Foreign-earned income (and housing expenses if you live abroad).
3️⃣Tax-exempt interest income.
Hope this helps!

❓ FAQ ❓ If I don't buy an ACA-compliant (Marketplace) plan, will I have to pay a penalty?
💡 ANSWER 💡 Nope. The Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate penalty was reduced to $0 in 2018, so there is no longer a federal penalty for not having what the gov't called "minimum essential health coverage".
Also remember that "Short Term Medical" plans (for those that don't want Marketplace plans) DO include what most of us consider "essential" benefits like hospital, surgical, office visits, etc.
The Marketplace plans simply include benefits for a few other things like maternity, mental health, and addictions that many of us don't need or want to pay for.
Hope that helps!

📢GUESS WHAT?📢 Open Enrollment for Affordable Care Act health insurance (Health Marketplace plans) starts Monday (Nov.1)!
This is for any person/family submitting a NEW application or CHANGING their current application.
The gov't sent me the "Circle of Champions" badge you see here because I've helped so many people with Marketplace plans.
So if you need help or have questions, give me a shout. :)

❓FAQ❓ "Shouldn't I choose health insurance that provides FREE wellness visits and doctor office co-pays?"
💡ANSWER💡 Not necessarily. Actual insurance plans (not medical discount plans) that have those bells & whistles always have MUCH higher monthly premiums. And if you're on a Group Plan and your employer or the gov't is paying much of that premium, great! Woo hoo!
But if you're paying your own premiums & you're generally healthy, the math doesn't work. For instance, a healthy, 35-year-old male in my county can pay as little as $90/month for health insurance with a $5k deductible. The lowest plan for the same age man with same deductible that ALSO has "free" wellness visits and office co-pays is $424/month.
No out-of-pocket costs for a wellness visit, mammogram (for you ladies), or sickness visits can POSSIBLY outweigh the extra $300+/month spent on plans like that.
All of a sudden, those "FREE" or "cheap" features don't seem so free & cheap, do they? 😬
For me, I'd rather have the LOWER monthly premium and pay a little more out-of-pocket on those rare occasions I go see a doctor. That math works better for MY situation - how about yours?
Hope this helps,
Jason
Yes! Whatever you're doing today, give it everything you've got. 😉

🚗🚗 I was reminded today of a man who's had me run insurance quotes multiple times over the last couple years but has never signed up for coverage.
He called me after being in a car accident and was facing $16,000 of medical bills.
Not only that, but had he died, his family would not have been provided for financially since he had no life insurance.
We just don't know what's going to happen to us on ANY GIVEN DAY, even if we're perfectly healthy. Don't get caught without HEALTH and LIFE insurance.
Jason
Marketplace health insurance Open Enrollment is right around the corner (starts Nov.1).
I can definitely help you find the right plan for you. But you should also consider whether so-called Short Term Medical is a better option for your needs. Some of the benefits of STM:
** Lower cost as compared to ACA-compliant plans
** Adjustable terms and deductibles to fit your budget and needs
** Coverage for urgent care and ER visits
** Plans are valid across states lines, feel secure knowing you are covered on vacation or wherever you may go
Have any questions? Direct Message me. I'm happy to help. ☺

Over a decade ago, our 4 hammin' it up during a hike. 😀
Jason
Reminder 💡: By adding supplement coverage to your health insurance policy, generally healthy people can safely keep a higher deductible (making your monthly premium lower) but STILL have cash provided to pay much, if not all, of your out-of-pocket costs from your medical bills. 🎉
