El Secretario de Seguridad Nacional, Alejandro N. Mayorkas, ha anunciado la extensión y redesignación de Venezuela para el Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) por 18 meses. Esta decisión se toma debido a las condiciones extraordinarias y temporales en Venezuela que impiden que las personas regresen de manera segura.
A partir del martes 3 de octubre de 2023, los venezolanos que han residido continuamente en los Estados Unidos desde el 31 de julio de 2023 pueden solicitar el TPS. Este estatus brinda protección temporal contra la deportación y autorización de empleo.
Es importante tener en cuenta que los venezolanos que llegaron a los Estados Unidos después del 31 de julio de 2023 no son elegibles para el TPS.
