Our Story
Our love for celebrating with steins of beer started in 2001, when our founder Austin Elrod Ray visited Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Between the lively atmosphere, the incredible food, and of course the beer, he was hooked.
15 years later, Austin and Jason Brumm—a long-time friend and restaurant industry peer—shared an epiphany over a beer. Jason noticed a butchery and sausage cookbook in Austin’s kitchen—which happened to be the same one he had been reading at home. At that moment, they knew Austin’s long-desired beer hall concept would pair perfectly with Jason’s dream of opening a restaurant with a true butchery inside.
Von Elrod’s is committed to bringing old-world practices that utilize quality ingredients, traditional cooking and genuine hospitality to a modern-day Nashville beer hall and kitchen. We specialize in fresh meats and sausages featuring superior cuts from trusted suppliers. Between bold flavors, live-fire cooking, and an in-house wood smoker, our meats and sausages stand out from any we’ve ever tried.
