"I started Cooper Steel at the end of August 2021. I began my career at Cooper as an Accounts Receivable Specialist. In my role, I am responsible for creating progress billings each month on our active projects. We bill several contractors and are responsible for ensuring all paperwork is provided. This process must flow smoothly for us to receive payment. Monitoring, collecting, and posting payments are also part of what I do. It truly is a team effort
between the Accounts Receivable Department and many other departments in the company. Good communication with our Project Managers each month is the key. I am thankful for how well we all work together to get the job done.
Throughout my career, I have had opportunities to work in retail, trucking, manufacturing, and construction; working on projects across states and cities at Cooper Steel has been very rewarding. Seeing completed projects on social media reminds me of the collaborative effort and the satisfaction of contributing to something significant. Having a small part in the big picture of these larger projects feels good. I love seeing a job from start to finish and thinking, "Wow! We did that!" and I had a part in it.
I believe in finding joy and fulfillment at work, approaching life positively, and working hard to make a positive difference every day. Despite facing challenges during a family health crisis earlier this year, Cooper Steel and my coworkers showed me the utmost understanding and support. Knowing they were doing something special for me during a tough time meant the world to me and is an act of kindness and love that I will never forget."
All smiles on this steel-tastic day! 🎇

"I began my career at Cooper almost two years ago as an On-Site Safety Manager before being promoted to a Senior On-Site Safety Manager. Prior to Cooper, I had 15 years of experience working as an ironworker. When needed, I provide support and guidance to keep employees safe and healthy within compliance, ensuring they go home to their families every day.
My current role has given me a deeper knowledge and understanding of construction and ironworking that I did not fully understand before. Every day, I learn something new and expand my knowledge in my field, which I enjoy most."

For this month's , we want to spotlight Zach Greenwood. Zach is a valued member of our Sub-Fabrication Department, and we're truly fortunate to have him on our team. We appreciate your dedication and hard work, Zach!
"As a sub-fabrication project manager, we ensure every project subbed out is delivered to the job site as scheduled within our financial budget. This includes confirming that our sub-fabricators have everything they need, such as drawings, files, schedules, material, primer, etc. We are a liaison between Cooper Steel and the numerous fabricators we work with so that Cooper Steel can meet the project schedules our customers need.
My Cooper career began as an intern in the Shelbyville office in 2018; I got to work on the office expansion that turned the old maintenance shop into office spaces. I returned that winter as an estimator in the Nashville office before starting as a sub-fabrication project manager in April 2021.
What I enjoy most about my job is how close everyone is in the Sub-Fabrication Department. We have a great group of people I can depend on, making it fun and enjoyable to come to work. Not many people get to say they work with their friends every day, and I know they don’t laugh as much as we do while still providing our customers with the highest standard of work.
I get motivation from solving problems and overcoming challenges to help our team see projects through. One particular moment does not stick out as the most memorable, as there have been numerous moments throughout my career at Cooper. Including attending sports events, holiday parties, finishing huge projects, traveling to cool shops & trade shows, and even laughing to tears on a typical day because of a joke your coworker made."
On , we recognize our incredible in-house team, who we rely on daily for the work they do.
Our IT team works to troubleshoot problems and keep us all connected. While they typically work behind the scenes, we are happy to have an opportunity to show our gratitude and appreciation!
