What volunteers are saying about ResearchMatch:
I have really enjoyed my work and association with Research Match very much. It has been rewarding for me and stimulating, too. I feel I have made good contributions. I can't say I have had much luck with clinical in-person direct participation research. I have volunteered on several occasions but have not been selected.
I feel confident that my data is safely stored by research match so I look forward to more assignments and research opportunities.
Thank you,
Gary Foster

From South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce-SFLHCC:
Incredible opportunity to have a discussion with the United States Secretary of the Navy! 🌊 It was an honor for the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) to be invited to host an exclusive group of Board Members and members to meet with the US Secretary of the Navy, Carlos Del Toro! We are so happy to see that the US Navy is fostering community engagement through Fleet Week as we toured the USS Leyte Gulf! Fleet Week showcases the impressive capabilities of the United States Navy, offering civilians a glimpse into the dedication and professionalism of the men and women who serve.
From Pancreatic Cancer Action Network:
Each year, a brave group of survivors, family members and friends gather in Southern California to take a leap of faith and skydive together! 💜🪂
This celebration of life honors the survivors in attendance — including 22-year survivor Roberta Luna — who refuse to let the disease take away their enjoyment of life and adventure. 💪
It's also a special way to remember those we've lost who were so courageous in their own journeys with the disease.
What volunteers are saying about ResearchMatch:
I participated in a research study through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I enjoyed it so much I wanted to do more. I also knew I wanted to do more to help. At a time when we were stuck in our homes and watching the pandemic unfold, I wanted to do what I could.
At the same time, vaccines were being developed to help fight COVID and I became super interested, in a way I never had before, in science and data and studies. I started voluntarily watching online webinars about scientific topics with great interest.
I was curious to know more and to get more involved in being a part of research being done. I found ResearchMatch and set up a profile. I routinely sign up for any and all studies that I can!
I do this for several reasons:
1. I love being able to help where I can. Being a part of scientific research feels good and is exciting!
2. It's fascinating! I love learning.
3. Sometimes there's even payment, which is a lovely bonus! Though with or without compensation, the process is enjoyable and a great way to help out!
Through these studies, I've learned that I really enjoy the studies that ask for feedback! In one of the studies in which I participated, I enjoyed the process so much and was able to help the person conducting the research so much that she asked me if she could contact me personally with further opportunities to give helpful feedback. So fun! Is there a profession that does that? Like editing, but for research? Sign me up!
I've been able to participate in LOTS of studies about mental health, which is a passion of mine, as well as studies about vaccines, menopause, healthy habits, and more. I enjoy being a part of this, and have encouraged family and friends to get involved as well, and many of them have!
Thank you for these wonderful opportunities. I'm a big fan of ResearchMatch!

From Neurofibromatosis Midwest:
Here's a great Throwback Thursday video to share on NF World Awareness Day - tomorrow, May 17th!
Statistics and names have changed since this video.
NF now refers to neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), NF2-related schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN), and all other schwannomatosis types (SWN). Also, all NF is now believed to affect 1 in 2,000 people or approximately 4 million people worldwide.
Why has it changed?
Having more research on who has NF has now estimated the number of people with NF1 to be 1 in 2,500, NF2-SWN to be 1 in 25,000, and other SWN to be 1 i 40,000. All together that's 1 in 2,000.
IIt is now figured to be about 4 million people worldwide rather than 2 million because of that and also because the population keeps increasing.
Learn About Neurofibromatosis Learn about neurofibromatosis (NF) and schwannomatosis from the children and adults who have these disorders.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Memorial Day! Today, we honor those who gave their all.
