For our final Women’s History Month spotlight, we are excited to highlight Tara Garland, our General Manager at Kayne Prime! Her passion for the hospitality industry started at a young age. Through hard work and dedication, she worked her way up to become a certified sous chef while earning a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management.
Now, as a leader at MStreet, she believes she is part of a company that values her skills and abilities, regardless of gender. She is inspired by the many strong female figures within the company who have created an environment where women can thrive and grow in their careers.
For women looking to grow in the hospitality industry, her advice is to keep pushing to be the best you can be and know there are always ways to improve your work or mindset. She encourages finding a mentor to guide you through challenges and help you grow professionally.
We are proud to have Tara as part of our team, and her experience and expertise make her a valuable asset to our organization!
We are excited to spotlight Elizabeth, our Assistant General Manager at Saint Añejo! With over 12 years of experience, Elizabeth started her career in restaurants to put herself through college while earning a degree in Music Business.
After spending six years in the music industry, Elizabeth decided to shift her focus towards leadership, with the goal of one day owning her own business. She joined the team at MStreet just over a year ago and quickly connected with the company's vision and goals. Elizabeth saw an opportunity to learn and grow from the leaders at MStreet, and has been dedicated to positively impacting the business ever since.
For women looking to grow in the hospitality industry, Elizabeth offers a piece of advice: Be confident in your decisions. Don't second-guess yourself. You are more powerful than you know.
Elizabeth's determination, passion, and leadership skills inspire all of us at MStreet. We're proud to have her on our team and look forward to seeing all the amazing things she'll accomplish in the future.
Meet our very own People Operations Manager at MStreet, Katie Kalmes, who started her journey with the company as a part-time host at Moto while teaching high school English. Through her passion and dedication, Katie caught the attention of MStreet leadership with the training materials she created for new hosts. This led to her being offered the Talent Development Specialist position, where she created a centralized training program for all of MStreet, blending her experience in hospitality with her education in learning theory and instructional design.
The support and trust that MStreet placed in her empowered her to grow in her career, ultimately leading to her current role as People Operations Manager. As a female leader at MStreet, she feels respected and empowered, and she believes that confidence and continuous learning are key to growing in the hospitality industry.
To all the women looking to grow in the hospitality industry, Katie offers this piece of advice: be confident in yourself and your abilities. You are on this path for a reason, so trust in yourself and do not doubt your abilities. And always remember that there is always more to learn.
At MStreet, we are proud to have female leaders like Katie, who serve as role models for all women looking to succeed in the hospitality industry. We will continue to support and empower our female employees to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
This week we are excited to highlight the remarkable career of Katy Allen, our General Manager at Moto. Katy began her hospitality journey over a decade ago as a housekeeper with Holland America Princess in Alaska. Since then, she has worked with various companies across the country, embracing different cultures and methodologies. Along the way, she discovered her passion for people and food, leading her to specialize in the food and beverage department.
Driven by the strong hospitality culture of Nashville, Katy joined MStreet where she found a community of like-minded individuals and a supportive environment that enabled her to grow and give back to her team and community.
Katy's advice to women looking to grow in the hospitality industry is to have a voracious appetite for learning and to figure out a way to pass that knowledge on. As a leader, Katy has found that she grows exponentially when she is focused on the development of others.
We are proud to have Katy as part of our team, and her experience and expertise make her a valuable asset to our organization!
In celebration of Women's History Month, we are spotlighting Melissa Davis, a leader at MStreet Entertainment Group who brings over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry. She graduated from culinary school in Louisville with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. In 2021, Melissa joined MStreet as an Inventory Control Specialist. Her remarkable passion and unwavering dedication led to a well-deserved promotion to the position of Procurement Manager.
As a woman in an often male-dominated industry, Melissa feels valued and supported at MStreet. The company's commitment to her growth has allowed her to learn valuable skills such as decision-making, strategy and management.
Melissa offers advice for women looking to grow in the hospitality industry: "The hospitality industry is not for the faint of heart. You have to be able to deal with different personality types, it can be a high-stress environment, and you have to be able to roll with the punches. Don't give up when it gets hard. I love the hospitality industry, and I've been working in this industry since 2012. It is very rewarding, and there are endless ways to grow in your career.”
Melissa's journey to her leadership role at MStreet is a testament to her passion, hard work, and dedication, and we celebrate her contributions!

Martha Flores, from El Salvador, has been with MStreet for the past 7 years. Martha has worked at both Virago and Moto. She was a prep cook at Moto and has grown to a sushi chef at Virago.
When Martha is not at work she enjoys being with her family and going to church. She is a mother of two and loves to spend as much time with her children as she can.
Outside of making sushi, Martha loves to make pupusas and horchata with her family, some of her favorites! Within MStreet’s restaurants, Martha loves Kayne Prime and thoroughly enjoys the cream corn brûlée.
What makes Martha stand out is her ability to help others (she also loves doing such). When asked what her favorite thing about MStreet Martha said, “the opportunities that MStreet gives.”
Coraly Tormos, from El Salvador, has been with MStreet for the past 5 years. She began as a line cook at Whiskey Kitchen and is now currently at Saint Añejo with the same position.
Outside of work, Coraly’s favorite things to do are to spend time with her four children and sleep. From Saint Añejo her favorite menu item is the Barbacoa taco. However, outside of an MStreet menu her favorite thing to eat are pupusas. Coraly described this dish as a corn tortilla filled with a mix of cheese, beans, and/or chicharrones. She also said that she likes to mix many different flavors inside them.
When asking Coraly her favorite thing about being apart of MStreet she said, “The hours and the people. They understand when I have family issues, they are more than just a company, it is a family.”
She also mentioned that a fun fact about herself is that even if she is sad or upset inside, she will always try to make someone’s day better.
Sulma Zayala, from El Salvador, has been with MStreet for the last 7 years mainly at Kayne Prime as a line and prep cook. She has also helped at Tavern for a brief time period with the same roles.
Sulma has four kids and her favorite thing to do outside of work is spend time with them. Her favorite thing to cook for her kids is either pupusas or nachos. However, her favorite thing to cook at Kayne Prime is the cream corn brûlée
When asking Sulma why she enjoys working at Kayne Prime so much and at MStreet she said, “I love everything. It is good for my health. My family is very happy for my job. Kayne is beautiful.”
Alfonso Cervera, from Mexico, has been with MStreet for the last 8 years. He began at Saint Anejo as a line cook as has advanced to a Lead Line cook learning and growing throughout all the stations and positions. Alfonso now has moved to Moto, still as a Lead, but also does prep during the day.
He has previously worked for an Italian company for 13 years and says that his favorite food to cook is Italian, but his favorite food to eat at MStreet are any of the quesadillas. He is excited to transition to Moto and return to cooking Italian food again! Outside of work his favorite thing to do is be with his family.
When asked why he enjoys working at MStreet he said he has “known these people a long time. They are great friends.”
Celso Medina, from Mexico, started with MStreet this past March as a Sous Chef at Saint Añejo. He transitioned to Whiskey Kitchen with his role shortly after and has now returned back to Saint Añejo.
His favorite food to eat is any kind of pasta and his favorite hobbies are playing sports, soccer especially, and spending time with his family. Celso’s favorite soccer team is Club America.
When asked what his favorite thing about working at MStreet is Celso said, “The people. They treat you well and like they are your own and they are family.”
