Forecasters expect Francine to impact Tennessee with heavy rain and the potential for flooding as the storm moves inland. We urge Tennesseans who may have family or loved ones living in affected areas to use extreme caution and be mindful of the hazardous conditions that this storm may create.

During hurricane season (June 1 - Nov. 30), the Volunteer State's proximity to coastal areas does create the risk of flooding whenever hurricanes and tropical storms come ashore. Damages due to flooding are NOT covered by standard homeowners or renters insurance policies, but only by a flood insurance policy.

While flood insurance comes with a cost, a flood insurance policy can mean the difference between having a fully or partially covered recovery and having to make out-of-pocket repairs that could spell a financial catastrophe for you and your family.

Nashville Rescue Mission continues to advocate, support, and raise awareness for those who are experiencing homelessness. And every day we hear and see your words of encouragement and love.

Thank you for continuing to support Nashville Rescue Mission!

We are thrilled to share that we will be hosting our 70th Anniversary Celebration!

In 1954, the Mission opened its doors to provide food, clothing and shelter to men experiencing homelessness in the Nashville community.

In 1968, the Mission expanded to meet the needs of the increasing numbers of women and children experiencing homelessness in the community.

Nashville Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered community committed to helping those who are hungry, hurting, and experiencing homelessness.On March 15, 1954, papers of incorporation were drawn up and a charter secured to open the city’s first shelter.

Within a week, two rooms were rented in an unused store building at 429 McGavock Street. The night before the rooms were opened, five men experiencing homelessness who had learned of the project wandered in and slept on a single bed, a pallet, and the bare floor.

Today, Nashville Rescue Mission continues to seek opportunities to serve men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in our community.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Substance abuse has becoming an increasingly large issue in the state of Tennessee. COVID 19 contributed to the increase in substance abuse in Tennessee as a way to cope due to the financial pressure, isolation and health concerns.

"Approximately 70,000 Tennesseans are addicted to opioids. Our state is seeing epidemic levels of addiction, overdoses, and death" (TN.gov).

The presence of a dangerous drug called Fentanyl, specifically, is rising in Tennessee.

Spreading awareness about substance abuse related issues is the first step in fighting against the stigma and lowering these statistics.
