Each lab member has unique passions and backgrounds which makes for a diverse talent pool to draw from when tackling difficult problems. I've found that celebrating this diversity and delegating tasks according to each member's strengths is the most effective and fun way to work. ”

What you have learned in the lab / What do you hope to learn through the lab: “So far, I have gained intensive R skills and exposure to the extensive effects of political conflict. Throughout the semester, I hope to learn about building databases, using quantitative analysis in different contexts, and understanding the political impact of social movements.”

Congratulations to ROCCA Professors Bradley Smith and Brett Benson for being published in the American Journal of Political Science! Their article “Commitment Problems in Alliance Formation” analyzes how adversaries respond to the prospect of a new or expanded alliance with military aggression. Amazing job!
