This one is the best there is. Here’s to life, here’s to Gerald Wilson. He was born on this day in 1918. He passed 4 days from now, in 2014. Back in 2012, proposed this shoot. I couldn’t believe it. Just before my dad passed in ‘05, pops got together a couple old school crew, bought a new (‘52) silver sparkle like he had back when he was a kid. Dad had a limited time left and he had a composition book with songs scribbled down in his epic chicken scratch writing. On the top of that list were.. Gerald Wilson, Viva Tirado and Booker T & the MG’s, yes you all know it, them Green Onions. recorded us all at home in the living room and as 16 y/o me fumbled around on bass thru El Chicano’s version of Viva Tirado, same with Donald Duck Dunn’s swank on Green Onions. Anyway, we made a record ultimately just before dad moved on (energetically). Years later this moment came. I got to hang out for an afternoon at this room I booked at the . I wanted him to arrive to a familiar space — I knew he couldn’t hear too well anymore or see much at all. It sure didn’t stop him from stories. I was HEARING. He was flowing.. told me stuff that blew my mind. I never mentioned that I tried to play bass on a version of a song that he wrote and conducted and was completely responsible for... that all just my own experience and nostalgia coming into it. Anyway that was all backstory. Here’s to Gerald, in all space all time and infinity. 🎼🎹🎼🎹🎼🎷🎺🎻🥁🚀⛵️✈️🚀💥🌈🌪. on lighting and convo :)
Always love shooting ’s elaborate dreamscapes... ’s sets are just always so visually striking to every last detail. Will be sorry to miss her this year. One year ago at was when I first started hearing the word “coronavirus”... never could have imagined all that it’s turned into. Though I’ll be skipping it on account of the ongoing pandemic, I can only imagine how mind-blowing the next will be💥

Our Story
Anna Webber is a commercial music, portrait and fashion photographer based in Los Angeles, often traveling between New York and Nashville. Her portrait work appears in in publications including Vogue, Paper Magazine, Rolling Stone, GQ, Pitchfork and Billboard Magazines, and she has created publicity and album cover photography for Sony, Concord Records, Rounder, Mack Avenue and numerous other record labels. She graduated from Pepperdine University in 2008 with a double major in Creative Writing/Communications and Business, while spending her spare time in the analog darkroom with British portrait photographer Jill Furmanovsky (National Portrait Gallery and Rock Archive) in Florence, Italy. Upon her return back to the U.S. she focused her energy to the digital darkroom, learning commercial lighting techniques and complete workflow processes in the James Hickey Fashion Studio in Los Angeles, CA. In 2008 photographer Baron Wolman, world renowned as Rolling Stone Magazine’s 1st chief photographer & photo editor, found Anna when she was 18 and hired her as his assistant, archiving and traveling internationally for meetings and gallery openings. Baron has remained Anna’s mentor, friend, and close confidant. Now an established commercial photographer herself, she often appears on photography panels, galleries and showcases at SXSW, PDN, United Photo Industries in NY, Seattle, San Francisco and Nashville, sharing the mic with such industry leaders like Baron Wolman, Bob Gruen, John Varvatos, Lynn Goldsmith, BP Fallon, Julie Grahame. Last year, Anna began working with Lytro as one of 5 photographers across the U.S. shooting their initial launch campaign. She continues to shoot content using the Lytro ILLUM camera as part of the Lytro Pro Shooter program, attending speaking engagements and photography expos.
