It rained the entire weekend. Windy, muggy… wet. Yet here came this beautiful community of farmers, animal enthusiasts, young families and local residents to celebrate our first full year of business.

The rain turned our bouncy house into a water park, guests made connections while getting cozy in the store, and kids tucked away giggling in the bunny trailer hoping mom and dad would let them take one home.

We hope to make some more memories like this (hopefully with a little less water) at this year’s Harvest Hangout on October 5th from 10AM- 2PM

On top of our Blue Seal Switch up Promo, there will be a featured Harvest Hangout Give Away you can enter leading up to the event starting next week! So stay tuned and mark your calendars!!

We’re having a little Harvest Hangout and we want to invite you, your family & friends to join us as we celebrate our favorite time of year! (Sorry Christmas)

The event is FREE, and will be from 10AM- 2 PM Saturday October 5th.

🐴 It wouldn’t be a StoneCreek hangout without live animals! Our favorites and Christina Trip’s Birds and Bunnies will be joining us from 10-1.

🐰Bunny adoptions! We have some beautiful special bunnies breeds up for adoption from 10-1. But come early, because those adorable wiskers get scooped up real fast 🥹

🎨Animal and Farm themed facepainting will be available all day!

🪵Wood Pellet stoves are on a whole other level….

I had never heard of “pellet” stoves when we first opened StoneCreek. As far as I knew pellets were chicken feed. Soon I found out pellet stoves are an innovation of home heating technology. Instead of burning logs and worrying about smoke, a lack of heat or running out of fuel, these wood pellets have an extended burning time, reduced ash production and tend to store lot better than chunks of wood.

🪵We use LG Wood Pellets, which are made from Black Spruce and Greg Pine. The pellets are 100% natural, deliver a heat value of 8750 BTU and produce less than .05% ash.

40 lb bags are available starting at $7.99 ea.

It’s always something we look forward to: planting our store garden every year. This year, however, we were all looking at each other asking “who did it” when we found baby pumpkins growing in one of our patches!

This is actually pretty common. Naturally sown seeds can be the cause of wind, birds, squirrels, even water anomalies. Tyler and I actually got some surprise corn growing at home in some locally sourced cow manure! But for these cute little guys….Our moneys on the birds.
(No complaints though!)

We have some similar varieties of winter squash seed available at the store. These plants take at least 80 days to produce…. But we’ll be stocked soon with some cute tiny and regular size pumpkins to supplement your fall decor needs until you can grow your own next year!

Hay vs Straw…. Which one do I need? 🤔

While hay is still a very viable option for those tractor rides coming up, straw is still king as it’s cheaper, gives more fluffy cushioning, doesn’t produce as much “grass dander” and is easier to sweep off clothes and shoes. Plus it leaves more nummy hay for our horses, cows & goats.

Believe it or not, the two are used AND sourced very differently.
Hay is made from dried grass while straw is made from the left over hallowed husks of harvested grains.

Hay is mainly used to feed our livestock when fresh grass isn’t readily available. It’s also a great source nutrition and fiber we can rotate into our animals’ diets.

Straw on the other hand is more commonly used for animal bedding, mulch or crop cover. Given it’s sourced from empty grain husks: it’s iconic to fall as it symbolizes the harvest of a great crop!

We’re big on Fall at StoneCreek, and this year we really wanted to find something special to share with our customers. After doing some digging we stumbled upon Ashley’s Greenhouse in Berkley, MA… and we were EXTREMELY impressed by the quality of their arrangements as well as the genuine care that comes through their customer service.

We thought these were so vibrant and fun, and with all of them being under $20, we almost walked away with our entire first round of plants 😅 I think it was the Scarecrow for Stacey….
