Best part?? The copper on her roots was achieved with ZERO bleach.

(I did have to remove that pink 🫢)

But, depending on our goal and what’s on your hair, and on very specific occasions, we can achieve awesome vibrancy just color. It’s AMAZING

Time really does fly. It feels like yesterday that we chopped all her hair off to below her CHIN and went copper 🫨

She grew all this out for OVER A YEAR in order to get her dream hair. That’s dedication period 💅

HAIR IS WEIRD! Here’s why your ends fade faster than your roots:

POROSITY🫶 aka your hairs ability to retain moisture and hold onto things…think of your hair strand being “roughed up” but on a microscopic level

Porosity can vary naturally and is also affected by chemicals 🫡

By the time your hair gets to your ends, it’s been through a LOT. Time, heat, existence, if you rock vivids and have done a few rounds of color remover, bleach, etc

At this point your ends have HIGH porosity. Which is typical! But they just don’t hang onto color like they used to. It’s like the ends “spit” the color out as fast as they suck it up!

Your roots have probably only been lightened once, and are still young and strong. 💪 and able to hold onto that color tight. The porosity is lower! Less holes and nonsense in the hair cuticle 💯

CHATS ABOUT COLOR SHIFTING

Color shifting: moving your color around the color wheel, instead of aggressively trying to lift the color out 🎉

Color removal isn’t BAD, but it’s not particularly awesome for the hair to do it every time. That is when color shifting comes in!!

Our goal is ultimately purple, which we have achieved! But with some pink involved 🤔

Peak at our before photo. Pink and blue makes purple. *win* but pink and green makes……💩

However, because purple is made of pink and blue, it has brought us one step closer to our goal. PLUS it’s cute 😘

Conclusion: Color shifting, AKA setting her up for a healthy, smooth sailing, pink journey ✨

BENEFITS OF MINI VIVIDS:

1. Save the damage, and only lighten “blocks” of your hair or the hairline like this one 💯

2. Save the budget, this service costs a bit less than a full vivid, but you still get the vivid 😉

3. Save your natural color, some folks really love their natural color and it creates a nice contrast with the vivid color of choice 💓

BONUS: if you wear your hair up, you’re automatically the coolest person in the room 🤷‍♀️ I don’t make the rules

SCENARIO: you’re picking out shampoo, how do you know which one is the best for your vivid hair?

CHECK FOR SALT (specifically sodium chloride)

Salt is added to a lot of shampoos to make ‘em thick and feel luxurious. But it’s super not- luxurious when your cute new color ends up fading WAY too fast 💯

Salt likes to dry things out and essentially exfoliate things. We don’t need that. ❌

Check to make sure salt is either at the end of the ingredient list, or not even on there at all.

My favorite shampoo for preserving color, that is light weight, cleansing, and doesn’t break the bank: Verb Ghost

Yeah. it hits. Every time 😩

So it has come to my attention that we aren’t naming hair colors after food anymore 🤷‍♀️

But it’s a good thing that….IDC🤸‍♀️ food names will always apply to vivids

Matter of fact? This one reminds me of a juicy blueberry pie 🥧

What happens if a guest wants “pastel?”

I tell em’ we should start vibrant.

For some folks, vibrant isn’t the vibe, and that’s OK

But a pastel is gonna fade in 1..2..3…

So if you don’t mind being bright for a week or two 🤷‍♀️ then let’s start vibrant!

Trust me. Believe me. Hear me. This is the way. You’ll get more longevity out of your color ☺️ 💯

Some people just hit the jackpot in life 😩 and it’s so easy for them to be platinum!

Platinum on somebody with naturally dark hair isn’t going to platinum the same as somebody with naturally light hair 💯

And if you’re hair is already colored??? Alas….we might not even get there….

I just blink and Payton is platinum. But on somebody else it might take a little more elbow grease 💪 like more than one session, longer processing time, coming in for a new toner before the retouch appointment, more purple shampoo moments, etc etc

it’s SO important to keep this mind when booking for a platinum card 👍

Contrary to popular belief…you CAN have cool vivid hair and it CAN still be “low maintenance”🤷‍♀️

I LOVE utilizing balayage techniques and combing them with vivid color. It allows my guest to have the best of both worlds 🤸‍♀️

The tried and true tip is to avoid shampoo with sulfates…and then apparently your vivid color will last forever.

Sulfates can be harsh…but I’m telling you right now the problem is actually SALT. Sodium chloride

Imagine using a salt scrub on your hair, like you’re exfoliating it. Your color is gonna be like ✌️ ✌️👋

Sodium chloride is used as a thickener in shampoos. When picking out the best shampoo for your vivid, make sure sodium chloride is LOW on the ingredient list.

Better yet, make sure it’s not even on the list

And I promise your vivid will last “forever” 😜
