Some of our team members attended a pep rally and lunch celebration last Thursday to accept our 2023 Best Places to Work award in the large employer category. Josh Harris is this week’s featured Excellence Award Winner. He exceeded expectations as DC Lead by taking on additional responsibilities, managing the 1st shift DC, and serving as backup for the DC Supervisor. Josh embodies our value of communicating honestly by being transparent and respectful while providing honest feedback on communication boards to promote employee engagement. His dedication to maximizing the effectiveness of the communication boards is evident through the numerous additional tasks he took on.

Today, we acknowledge Barbara Rael for her outstanding contributions as a partner in the 2022 Order Improvement projects. This week, we highlight David Alexander, who was awarded an Excellence Award for his dedication to always putting customers first. His colleagues hold him in high regard as he is an excellent team player. During a Kaizen session, David and his team members devised innovative ideas to improve first-in-first-out (FIFO) and increase picks per hour. He played an instrumental role in leading the project, aiming to boost warehouse efficiency and eliminate unnecessary movements. Thanks to his hard work and dedication, we have already seen an improvement in our picks per hour.

Upon receiving the award, David said he felt humbled. He has used his 18 years of experience to create positive change for his division. When asked about the Ovation Trip for Excellence Award winners, David said he couldn’t wait for a little break and rest. Congratulations, David! You have earned this award, and we hope you enjoy the experience!

This week, a group of IEWC leaders spent two days at Marquette University o develop their coaching skills, practice being courageous, learn the importance of self-reflection and gratitude, and connect as a team to help each other grow. Gathered around the statue of Jacques Marquette, the university’s namesake, the IEWC team stands with one foot up to mirror the resolve and forward movement of Marquette’s intrepid explorations.

Our fantastic customer service team always puts a lot of effort into supporting and maintaining IEWC’s partnerships with our suppliers and customers. They genuinely exhibit our teamwork mentality and know the importance of staying connected. We’re happy to share that they took a much-deserved break to celebrate the team and enjoy some summer-like weather while having a "chill and grill" lunch outdoors.

This week’s Excellence Award Winner Spotlight is Matt Stroh. Matt had an exceptional year! His work on two major order-improvement projects proved invaluable to our high-performing culture. He took the time to understand and meet supply chain and commercial needs while improving the customer experience. His dedication to simple, efficient processes was greatly appreciated. Matt always delivered on promises, communicated honestly, and approached projects with creativity – embodying our IEWC values. He also offered his expertise as a resource for other order-improvement projects. Thanks to his hard work, we implemented solutions that increased inventory efficiencies.

And, of course, as an Excellence Award Winner, Matt will be going on our Ovation Trip (destination to be revealed later)! When asked what he looked forward to most, he said, “I am really looking forward to exploring someplace new with my wife!” Congratulations, Matt! We appreciate your team-player mentality and dedication to supporting our obsession with being the best partner for our customers and suppliers!

Martin’s track record of turning ideas into actions will establish IEWC’s footing as an important solutions provider in the infrastructure space. With more than 25 years of experience in B2B distribution, Martin possesses the necessary skills to drive significant improvements and leverage technology that will benefit our customers. Martin is dedicated to building exceptional teams and will oversee IEWC’s telecom brands (Cablcon and Jupiter Communications) IEWC’s Premier Cables business in Europe, and lead business development within other infrastructure markets. We’re all about talent, all the time. This week DC leaders from our IEWC and Cablcon teams came together for two incredible days of leadership development. The training focused on continuous improvement and was hosted at our Greenville, SC, distribution center. This is just one of the many ways we encourage our employees to be their best. We annually acknowledge exceptional individual contributions through our Excellence Awards. Our latest honoree for the 2022 Excellence Award is Corin Wallick, the Production Planning Manager at Cablcon. Corin has been an integral part of Cablcon for 12 years and takes pride in the automation she developed for the supply chain team. Her automated reports have streamlined the review process, reducing the need for multiple reports and data manipulation from Rubicon daily. This has freed up valuable time for strategic tasks, and we appreciate the efficiency benefits it has brought to the team.

Corin expressed her excitement at winning the award, saying, “I am so excited about winning the award! I feel like all my hard work over the past year is recognized, and I am grateful for that recognition.” She eagerly anticipates the Ovation Trip in February (a fabulous trip for our Excellence Award and President’s Club winners), where she will have the opportunity to explore new places with a fantastic group of people. Today, members of IEWC attended the official ceremony for the 2023 Top Workplaces USA award. We’re deeply honored to be a Top Workplaces 2023 National Winner.
