Fresh wrap job cominatcha.
These two are looking to set some PR’s at the Lake Terrammugus Triathlon later today. Thanks to some axle work from dad, some brake work by me, and some aero shop T’s I’ll be anxious to read about their domination in the papers tomorrow. Go gettem boys.
Peter was looking to gain comfort and a few more climbing gears without sacrificing the blissful ride quality of his steel LeMond. He also wanted it to be fast enough for his no-talk-just-pedal group rides. Lastly, he demanded externally routed cables and mechanical shifting, a modern day hero. The result? All business. Brass Tacks. Nitty Gritty.
Axiom SL, Shimano 105 7120, Hed Ardennes wheels, GP5000’s.
Thanks to Seven’s design team for the perfect fit, and to the builders for the lightening fast turn around. Thanks to Peter for the support and to for the referral! Should you see Peter on his new bike, be sure to ask him about his tooth fairy story.
As anyone registered for will tell you, there is no bike more appropriate to tackle the course than a single speed. Anyone who knows **g , knows he is no ding d**g, so it should come as no surprise that he designed just such a bike for just such a ride. Behold, the magnificent, pearlescent SS Gravel. Bryan went above and beyond with this one including extra machining on the frame (one circle for each Royal H to come through True Cyclery, tickled pink I am) and cockpit. She’s a stunner. Thanks to Phil for the frequent support and to Bryan for the mastery.
Lilith came to our event a few months ago as a gravel curious roadie. When the night was over, thanks to ’s informative presentation, she was ready to commit! The result? Gearing for the steepest jaunts, clearance for big knobbies, and the power at your fingertips, reach adjustable, Sram Force brake levers for her small hands. Paint, Solix wheels, hot waxed chain, and a set of 85th anniversary tires put this build over the top. One of the many things Seven does so well is to make smaller frames look perfectly proportional, just look at this beauty!
and I caught Lilith on Baldwin Drive on a day as hot as her bike, and were thoughtful enough to stop her mid-climb to say hello and test out her start from stop climbing gears.
Thanks to Lilith for the support and the fun order process and to Seven for the lightening fast turnaround.
16 Sevens on display, 40 supporters, 90 slices of pizza, 50 cocktails, 1 proud shop owner. Thanks to everyone for coming out on a chilly Friday night to make me think I was at a mini hand built bike show. Even after twenty years of working with I learned lots from Patria’s informative presentation, and am more excited than ever to be working with the team at Seven. Thanks to those that came out for a test ride, and those that have expressed interest in doing so in the future. Remember that we’re running a promotion on a second set of wheels should you order a Seven before the end of February!
I’ll be sending out a survey to participants on how we can make events like these even better.
Equally important, I am forever grateful to:
Seven Cycles: How heartwarming is it that they came down to spend a good 24 hours with True Cyclery? Bikes, knowledge, slideshow, chit chat, test rides, is a one-woman wrecking crew and the hardest working person in the biz. So impressed. By ordering a Seven, you support me, Patria, my friends you saw in the slideshow, and a handful of other wonderful people all building one bike at a time.
for their support of me and True Cyclery on top of the amazing service they provide to the community, and the added bonus of day to day laughs while working alongside them. Please donate to their cause if you can. https://bsbc.co/donate
witch.newhaven: Every event is better when our friend Katie comes, but when she brings her cocktail mixing prowess, it puts things right over the top. Hire her for YOUR next gig.
All Stars: Huda, John, Kristin, Augie, Tom, Marine, & Paul for letting me display their beautiful bikes.
The place is here, the time is now. Well, starting at 6:00 it is. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Two things were clear out of the gates, Charlie is a runner that also rides and more importantly, loves France. After a recent trip to ride the Alps, he fell in love with his rental - a modern road bike complete with electronic shifting, disc brakes, wider tires, and appropriate gearing. The time to replace his decades old bike had come. With the help of , and perhaps more importantly, the artistic guidance of his daughter, we present Charlie’s modern road bike! A Seven Axiom XX, built for speed up, down, and everywhere in between. I was thrilled to be a part of this one and can’t wait to hear how it performs up Ventoux, Alpe d’Huez, Tourmalet and all the other peaks it’ll gobble up. Per usual, a most beautiful frame and fork courtesy of Seven Cycles, and eye candy by , , and . How do you say “La cerise sur le gateau” is the NOS splash bar tape. Thanks to everyone involved for the support, I find little as satisfying as a new Seven coming together.
Jan 26th Special Event -
Demystifying Custom with Seven Cycles
Join us on Friday, January 26th, from 6pm - 8pm to meet, greet, and join in on a rousing discussion to define Seven while demystifying custom bikes.
Our guest speaker, the wonderful - Patria Vandermark, has been an invaluable presence at Seven Cycles for so long that she even overlapped with me way back in the early 2010’s. My friend and former colleague is now the Sales Manager at Seven in addition to running a unique mobile Seven retailer and group ride leading powerhouse in and around the Boston area. She’s completed some of the country’s biggest gravel rides, is a former racer and cycling tour guide, and even still, might spend most of her time on a fat bike. We’re so excited to have her in person to talk about the company I love so much.
Also in person? Legendary cocktail creator .witch.newhaven - Katie Lloyd, of Bar August, will be making drinks for the special occasion.
Pizza and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available, please RSVP at link in bio so we know how many pie’s to order.
It’s a win/win if you ask us. Hope to see you there!
This post is for the grinders in search of a stoke inducing wheelset. When I learned of We Are One Composites, I searched to the end of the internet, reading until there was nothing left to learn, then tore into video reviews, podcasts, and interviews. Such an awesome story. If you enjoy a nerd out session like me, I highly recommend listening to link in bio.
Long story short, fabricates everything in their Kamloops, BC factory with a focus on sustainability and environmental awareness, supporting and partnering with local businesses, and sourcing as many materials from North America as possible. Like most brands we support, We Are One has helpful, wonderful people on the other end of the phone and a lifetime warranty on all of their beautiful products be it rims, bars, or frames.
The gravel Revive Wheelset, built in Kamloops with I9 Classic Road hubs, starts at $1,200 (black Friday promo, limited time only!) or can be built here at True Cyclery with your choice of hubs from you name it and we’ll get you a quote and will waive the labor charge for any We Are One wheel built before 2024. $1,200 isn’t cheap, but in the overwhelming field of carbon rim options, these pack a ton of value, come with a lifetime warranty, and more importantly, you’d be the coolest cat in town.
Interested? Reach out to see them in person and/or schedule a demo.
Marine picked up her new Seven Axiom XX yesterday afternoon, donned her shoes, and shoved off on a new bike day group ride right from the shop door. My phone blew up long after the sun went down - “Karl! It was even better than I could’ve ever imagined it would be. Perfection. On the first ride!!!!?
So smoooooooooooth.” A full report of this bike, and proper photos coming soon. Kudos to the team at Seven for another fabulous design and huge thanks to Marine for the support.
Something fast will be unleashed on the streets of New Haven this weekend.
John rides many, many miles. When he drops his bike off for service it usually comes with a quick update about his next brevet, longer than the last, and always some number in the thousands of kilometers. The numbers don’t compute in my head in real time because they’re too large. Once I asked why he preferred a pillow top saddle and he asked me how my saddle felt after 24 hours of non-stop pedaling. Touche. This new bike will be used for just such distances, and more, and more, and more. His smile is big because he knows the fun that awaits, and the bond he’ll form with his new Seven. Thanks to for another beautiful build, to .t for a gorgeous paint job, and to John for the continued support!
Does your drivetrain look clean, ride quietly, and shift precisely? If not, maybe it’s time to schedule a tune-up and an ultrasonic cleaning. Details and options at link in bio.
As some of you already know, our son Zin lived for seven days, and our lives were changed forever. and I have been tip toeing back into the world we thought we knew, each step learning who we are, who we’ve become, and who we want to be, all the while surrounded by heaps of love and support. One change, related to this post, is that starting Monday, I will be full time at True Cyclery, a move that feels right and good.
Looking ahead, we will have road rides, True to Brews, big events, small events, bikepacking clinics and campouts, CX, and soon, a grand reopening.
Thank you for reaching out these last few months and continuing to support us, me, and True Cyclery through the good and the sad. I hope to see you soon.
Shop is closed while we await the arrival of our baby boy! Want to follow along? I’ll be posting updates of our journey at the link in bio.
Just in time for (a) fall, **g ‘s CX race wheels are ready for Newtown!
A most beautiful wheel build is in the works.
Not sure if you all noticed, but today was a fine day to go for a ride.
The next Royal H is underway! This beautiful rig will be vintage in appearance - lugs, quill, rim brakes - but ready to carve today’s roads and trails. 38mm tires and a wide 1x drivetrain range will ensure no trail is too much, and the brakes will bring it to a screeching halt when asked. On display, for the first time publicly (I think?) is the all new a Royal H head badge! 👀 👀 👀 we love it!
Five year and one day anniversary, we’re celebrating cuz we got a baby on board!
When the man, the myth, the legend says he wants an off road rig, it’s best to pull out all the stops. Here is brand new Evergreen XX! Multi-butted titanium frame for all day comfort and invincibility, monster chain stays and BB for 🧨 speed. knobbies for carving out corners. Red headset, hubs, and bottom bracket might look like candy but will provide a lifetime of use. Enve 4.5ar’s are aero, light, and ooze adrenaline. Honored to have him aboard my dream machine.
Went on a good old-fashioned road ride this morning. The temps were high, the sweat was salty, and the laughs constant.
Flat bar road bike FTW! Such a fun bike, eventually headed to Florida to cruise the beaches in flip flops. Love the fun handling and the cushy tires.
Next up is a Seven Cycles Evergreen, a gravel machine, for the man who introduced me to the riding scene in New Haven!
New go fast bike delivery day! Filante SLR with all the fixings.
