FIRST SPEAKER EVENT OF THE SEMESTER TODAY AT 6PM IN LC211! Come meet Rep. Dan Goldman, who graduated from Yale in 1998 with a B.A. in history and went on to receive his J.D. from Stanford in 2005. Since then, Goldman has served as the Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and was later hired as Senior Advisor and Director of Investigations for the House Intelligence Committee in 2019. Goldman became lead counsel for the first impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump and both questioned witnesses and testified at public hearings in front of the House Intelligence Committee and House Judiciary Committee. Goldman ran for Congress for New York’s 10th District in 2022 and won the general election with 83.9% of the vote. Join us on to hear from Goldman and ask him questions! 💙
Everyone show some love to the coolest person ever! Debbie is a first-year majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, in Ezra Stiles from Chicago, Illinois. As a new Dems member, Debbie has already made her mark in the Legislative Branch! Her energy and excitement is so palpable and will be working on a bill to make prescription drugs more affordable for Connecticut residents. We can’t wait to see what else Debbie will accomplish! 👏💙

Our fellows application is officially live! Apply by Friday night to join one of our 4 branches — no experience necessary.
We reject the Supreme Court’s decision to end Affirmative Action, a move that will exacerbate racial inequity in education, not reduce it. We stand in solidarity with all those affected by and concerned about this ruling, and we look forward to continuing the fight for education to become fairer and more inclusive. If you’d like to discuss and work through this case or the other recent rulings with us, we’ll be hosting a Town Hall this Sunday, 7/2 at 7pm — link to come via our newsletter.
Happy Pride, Dems! 🌈🌈🌈
Happy Juneteenth, Yale Dems ❤️🖤💚💛 Today is a day for celebrating Black joy and Black history — and it is also a reminder of the promises made in 1863 that have yet to be realized. Swipe for info on how you can support and advance racial justice, today and everyday!
Yale Dems was so honored to visit the Hartford State Capitol last Friday! While we have conducted legislative advocacy work in partnership with many members of the Connecticut General Assembly, this was our first formal in-person trip to the State Capitol since 2019. Thank you Speaker Matthew Ritter for inviting us to tour the Senate and House chambers, Legislative Office Building, and public hearing rooms. We hope to be back soon!
We were honored to recently host 2 of the candidates running for mayor of New Haven in the September Democratic primary: Justin Elicker, who is the current Mayor of NH and up for reelection, and Liam Brennan, current Inspector General in Hartford and a former legal aid attorney. Yale Dems does not endorse candidates in competitive municipal primary elections, but we believe firmly in the importance of speaking to candidates about their backgrounds and their vision for the city! We're grateful to both these candidates for coming to speak with us, and eager to potentially host more candidates in the future.
We had an amazing time at Benefit and we hope you did too!!!! 🫶🫶🫶 Together, we raised over $1,200 dollars for IRIS in the end (absolutely insane)💙💙 Thank you to everyone who came for such a special night, and to our co-sponsors! Here’s to a great end of the semester and another successful Benefit next year 🥂
Happy Earth Week from Yale Dems!!! Our fellows & members have been working hard this semester to protect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change. Read about their work here 🌎🍀☀️

We were honored to host Jay Carney for an incredible conversation on Thursday! It was so inspiring to hear from Mr. Carney about his involvement in pivotal moments of US and global history over the past few decades through his distinguished career in journalism and communications, as well as on the importance of the media and press in shaping our political landscape. Thanks again to Mr. Carney for joining us, to The Politic, Yale Journalism Initiative, and Poynter Fellowship for co-sponsoring, and to the many students who came to the event!
Wisconsin has great cheese, and even better Democratic candidates! TODAY is Election Day and it couldn’t be more important that every Wisconsinite gets out and votes. Here’s a primer on some of the most important races you should know about!
Speaker event alert! Join us on Thursday, March 30th at 7pm for a Q&A with Gary Locke — the former governor of Washington, US Commerce Secretary, and Ambassador to China. Locke was the first Chinese-American person to serve as a governor in US history and also the first to serve as US ambassador to China. We are so honored to host someone with such an impressive career and such a trailblazer for Chinese-American representation in politics! This event is co-hosted by The Yale Politic and the Asian American Cultural Center.

We were honored to host Neera Tanden for a great conversation last night! It was so inspiring to be joined by someone with a uniquely impressive career in public policy, and we were excited to hear from Ms. Tanden about the vital necessity of youth engagement with politics. Thanks again to Ms. Tanden for joining us, to The Politic and the South Asian Society for co-hosting, and to all who came to the event!
HUGE NEWS: on Tuesday, March 7th, Neera Tanden will be joining Dems (in partnership with The Politic and the South Asian Society) for our first speaker event of the year! Ms. Tanden has served in senior roles in the Biden, Obama, and Clinton administrations, and previously served as the president of the Center for American Progress. We are so excited to hear from her about her impressive career and her advocacy for progressive public policy. This event is free and open to the public, and all interested attendees should RSVP at bit.ly/DemsTanden. We are so excited to be joined by Ms. Tanden (and to see you all in the audience, of course)!
Yale Dems was extremely saddened to hear the news about a student’s death yesterday and we are extending our condolences to all those affected by this loss. Every student should take the time they need to process and grieve. These resources are intended to help anyone who is grieving, or looking for someone to talk to, or struggling with their mental health. At the very least, we hope these resources will be useful for anyone who feels overwhelmed by navigating Yale’s (wholly inadequate) mental health support system. We’re sending you all love and solidarity today and everyday. If anyone has other resources they think would be helpful, please do not hesitate to DM us with info.
