New Haven Rising
NHR is a dues-based community organization of residents committed to winning economic, racial, and social justice through collective action.
Mt Hope Temple, New Growth Outreach and New Haven Rising came together to phone bank Pennsylvania voters. Elder Flordia Baskin said, “I marched with Dr King for voting rights, too many sacrificed and even lost their lives to have our rights taken away. I refuse to go backwards!”
New Haven Rising members are fighting against Trump and his allies on all fronts to make sure we have elected leaders who will fight for working people. We’ve had boots on the ground in Meriden and New Britain, Philadelphia, Reno, Vegas, Long Island, Tucson and Phoenix!
From the Hill to the Ville!
Meriden to Reno!
Philly to Phoenix!
We are mobilizing voters and sharing why this election is so high stakes for us, our communities, our unions, and our families.
Don’t get anxious, just get to work, and JOIN US!
Join us this Saturday at 9am at the Dixwell Community Q House to remind voters what is at stake in this election! We need our candidates to know that we will continue to fight for good union jobs, safe affordable housing, and more youth opportunities… and when we fight, we win!
This is our first national election with early voting in CT! If you are going out of town, or just want to cast your ballot early, you can register and vote in person at City Hall. Also, don't forget to vote YES on ballot question 1 to expand absentee voting in our state!
Community and Labor are fighting to beat Trump!
Volunteers at Mt. Hope Temple Bible Study, the New Haven People’s Center, and UNITE HERE members joined forces in last night’s phone bank to battleground states for Harris/Walz!
We will not go backward, only forward to equality!
"Feldman emphasized a stake in labor union rights. She brought up the recent win by Omni hotel workers..."

We are community and labor fighting for our future.
is the only candidate in the 5th district who will work to expand the middle class and give more opportunities to working people. Lots of conversations with voters who are supporting her and excited to vote.
New Haven Rising is mobilizing for this historic election. We have leaders in swing states across the country. Here in New Haven we’re mobilizing for and the New Haven Delegation and next week we’re heading to the 5th for . Let’s go!!
Each year, elections are getting harder to win. Races in battleground states are won by razor-thin margins. UNITE HERE runs the largest labor-led canvassing program in the country that inspires working people to vote and makes the decisive difference in close elections.
Join us and our coalition as we call voters in key swing states to support our canvassing on the ground!

Join STRIKING Omni Hotel workers on the picket line 5am-midnight
Join us Sat 2:30pm to rally!
It’s time to transform low-wage jobs in the service sector and move us all forward! The Omni workers’ fight is OUR fight for a New Haven where we can all afford to live, work, and dream.
Vincent Mauro Jr., Chair DTC, received 2024 Legislative Ally Award for legislative advocacy in support of striking workers. Mauro stood w/workers & set powerful example for other DTCs in CT despite opposition from Gov. Lamont who vetoed HB 5431
Rounding out Day 1 of the convention is Remidy Shareef, New Haven Rising organizer. Representing and so many of the "have-nots", Shareef faced struggles of poverty, violence, and racism in his community, but chose to be an agent of change, organizing the fight for his city and the better lives that his fellow residents deserve.
Rev. Scott Marks, Director of New Haven Rising, joined the convention as a panelist about the role of labor in the fight for racial and economic justice.
"In our union, sometimes our members think that they are not the union — but every single person in that contract is the union. 🎶 So everywhere we go-o, the people want to know-o, who they are, so we tell them — THEY are the union!"
Happy International Workers’ Day! Today we joined with workers at the Omni Hotel, and in solidarity with workers across the country, for a May Day action as they fight for their contract! All jobs should be good jobs where workers can support their families and live with dignity. When we fight we win!
Thank you to Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz for coming out and supporting Local 217 today! UNH, it's time to settle a fair contract with job security for your facilities workers
🗳️📢 Election Day is Tuesday! Vote YES on charter revision for a better New Haven:
✅ Give our leaders more time to focus on community priorities
✅ Align with other major CT cities w/ four-year terms
✅ Save city money for essential services
✅ Increase voter participation
Chris Avollone, ward 18 resident supports charter revision because it saves the city money and resources. It also gives our elected officials more time to work for us and less time campaigning
Evette Hamilton & Jane Kinity
Please Support the Charter Revision! Vote yes because it’s good for our city. It will increase voter turnout and reduce election fatigue.
Alder Brian Wingate says, “I’m voting YES on the Charter question on the ballot because it will save the city money. And make government run better.”
Just another example of why elections matter. As Alder Evette Hamilton stated, “the more we come out and vote, the more funding we can obtain.”
Do your part, come out and vote Tuesday Nov 7th and help us get out the vote!
