Sweaty palms, a shaky voice and picturing the audience in their underwear may be common occurrences when it comes to the subject of public speaking, but the New Lenox chapter of Toastmasters International aims to better people's confidence in that area. The group, which was officially chartered in October 2009, is part of the international Toastmasters organization and provides support and lessons

Toastmasters is an international organization (with many local club chapters) with a mission of helping people build leadership and communication skills. New Lenox Toastmasters club is a fun and safe space to learn and grow. We meet every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and guests are always welcome. Our next meeting is 1/14 at 8:30am - Join us! Meet Bob! He has been a member since 2019 and is pursuing the Dynamic Leadership path.
Bob is a member of New Lenox Club and Lincoln-Way Toastmasters, which meets in Frankfort. When asked asked why he is a member of two clubs? Bob says “There are subtle differences between the two clubs. For example, New Lenox club is more spiritual then the other. But two things remain true for both clubs 1) Commitment from all members to help you become a better public speaker and
2) leadership opportunities available through roles.”

Meet Kristine! She has been a member since 2014 and has earned both Competent Communicator (CC) and Competent Leader (CL) designations. She has also held numerous officer roles including Vice President of Education, Vice President of Membership, and Secretary.
She is currently working on her Motivational Strategies Path. When asked what her favorite things about the club are, Kristine says “fantastic people, diverse group, safe space, faith-based, and it’s fun!

Meet JR! He is a founding member of the club (chartered in 2009) and is working on his Level 3 Innovative Planning path. The club is a faith based club that was formed to help people in ministry better communicate. Today it has a diverse membership and is a safe space to practice communication skills.
When asked what his favorite part about a Toastmasters meetings is, JR says “Greeting guests and providing them with information to help them make a decision to join.”
JR also enjoys listening to TableTopics, which are 1-2 minute impromptu responses to questions to help members think on their feet and build confidence to communicate.

Meet Kristian! He's been a member of New Lenox Toastmasters since 2018. He just completed the Persuasive Influence Path and has just started on Presenation Mastery. He's held several officer positions in the club and was an Area Director too.
Kristian thinks Toastmasters is a great way to improve personal communication and leadership skills. For Kristian, the best part of New Lenox Toastmasters is the support and camaraderie of its members. He says “We all help each other to learn and grow!”

Meet Steve! He joined Toastmasters in 2018 and is working on his second path, Presentation Mastery. Steve is the current New Lenox Toastmasters President and also serves as the Area 40 Director.
The greatest return on investment for Steve along with continuing to improve his presentation skills, is working with the membership to continue Club growth and to achieve the Club’s 5th consecutive President’s Distinguished Recognition.

Meet Martha! She joined Toastmasters in 2017 and is working on her Innovative Planning Path. She has held officer positions in the Club, completed 2 District level positions and won first place in the Division Humorous Speech contest in 2019.
When asked what has been the greatest return on investment, Martha says “confidence and career advancement”
