Well, folks. This is it.

Hurricane Francine will be making landfall in Louisiana shortly. The storm's effects are expected to impact New Orleans beginning around 3pm CST today (Wed, Sept 11).

We've done our best to prepare. Here's what you need to know:
☁️ the gallery is CLOSED on Wed, Sept 11
🌧 we removed our hanging sign. It didn't blow away!
⛈️ we *may* lose power and / or cell service. Please be patient if you've reached out.
🌬 orders to be shipped by 9/12 were dropped off to USPS & UPS on 9/10, in hopes of getting ahead of Francine and damage left in her wake. There *may* still be arrival delays, which are out of our control. Please check your email for tracking info.

Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic, responsible, organized & committed to quality customer care. They must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.

Retail Associates are responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere & maintaining gallery aesthetics, which includes greeting & engaging customers, merchandising, light housekeeping & helping our staff rock each weekend.

Who will we see this October?

✨ INTRODUCING ✨ one of a kind acrylic paintings by New Orleans artist ! We became smitten with her work (and her!) years ago, when we met while vending at a Frenchmen Street art market. It is truly with great pleasure that she has now entrusted us to represent her work in the French Quarter.

Lillian Aguinaga is a Peruvian-American contemporary fine artist whose figurative paintings and murals are captivating, empowering and thought-provoking. Her work explores those fleeting moments in the human experience that define what it means to belong and overcome despite the hardships that inevitably shape us all. Her style is vibrant, bold, and dream-like, and recall, for us, some of our favorite Italian giallo masterpieces of Dario Argento.

Today's Project --- a ✨️ GLORIOUS ✨️ wine colored velvet folding prayer kneeler with fringed trim (c. 1930s).

This particular piece came in its original traveling case with an interesting story. It was used by an itinerante priest, who would travel by wagon and pirogue to deliver sermons to the more remote parish churches here in Louisiana. It came equipped with electrified lights, which made it even more beautiful to behold.

Religious pieces from this time period always make my heart flutter, but one with local history? Now, you know we just couldn't pass it up. But, unfortunately, that wiring was SO antiquated that it would now be a SERIOUS fire hazard if someone wanted to display it lit.

Remember last week, when I told you how good I am at finding "project pieces"? Well, thankfully, the handy knows how to rewire lamps (and now this).

This small carved wooden troll has captured our hearts. A loving inscription from Hazel to her father is handwritten underneath on "Dad's Day, 1918".
