Little things done consistently and successfully make a good business. âĄď¸ Little things done consistently, successfully, AND AUTOMATED, make a great businessâŚ
Find whatâs winning on your Revenue side, and put processes around that. You can always audit if youâre nervous about letting go.
âThe most important thing in Communication is hearing what isnât said.â â Peter Drucker.
Take time to pay attention to what was actually delivered. Document results and byproduct in your first intake sessions, then work your way back to the real drivers. Give those more resources, and then turn your eye to the rest.
Think big and keep it simple. đ
I ran some FEMA contracts in St. Croix after a tech firm I worked for was acquired. I thought it was my break into solopreneurship.
You learn a lot about scale when you first work for yourself. All organization run into the same problems. Money, staffing, supply, systemsâŚ
The difference is a matter of scale.
The question becomes where do you want your problems to occur? By yourself, losing hair trying to figure it out? Or in an Org with financial backing, resources, directors, and teams available to work through solutions?
Think that one through carefully. Thereâs freedom in options.
Thereâs not a lot you canât solve or settle into in the type it takes to smoke a good cigar.
I ran offices in Sydney, Tokyo, Dublin, and Denver for a tech firm. The scale was just right for a company below Enterprise. A few Ops crew in each region setup a follow-the-sun support path for the revenue teams.
Thatâs way better than your EMEA VP waiting for some pompous young American dude in Denver to wake up and ignore him. đ

Experience is the only real currency. Certificates matter, but you canât mistake them for experience and results.
Project Management based leadership misses the entire field of real workers that get your sh*t done. Itâs top down leading, or what they call leading from the rear. âDo what I sayâŚdo what looks good in this slide deck.â
If you want real results, you have to know your team, know what they do, know your stakeholders, and know how to get your hands dirty.
Start bottoms up, and get to the top; not the other way around.
Same problem in the workforce. Too much drama around the now, and not enough big picture thinking. You have to understand what truly matters to have vision.
You have to be willing to confront âthe way itâs beenâ in order to make more elegant decisions moving forward.
Ask yourself, whatâs the simplest way to market related to this problem, and take that route.
Or ask yourself, whatâs working the best right now, and do more of that.
Pull yourself out of the present emotions, and make bold decisions. If you donât lead, someone else will step in and do it poorly. đ
Connections get you started, but people forget that getting sh*t done is the currency that builds connections.
Create value, share value. Receive value is right on the heel of that. âťď¸ Itâs a self perpetuating cycle.
Invest in it. Spend time in it. Study it. Contribute to it. What are the high impact deliverables you can produce today, and for whom?
I first took this lady out three years ago. I was flat broke, in-between entrepreneurial ventures, living in a room full of cardboard boxes in my brothers house, and working 10-hour days selling used cars at my Dadâs Cadillac dealership.
Money will get you a lot of things, but thereâs a certain peace of mind that comes from the decisions you make when NO money was around you.
It forces you to think creatively. Iâd have to scrounge dollars hoping I had enough to park the car and get this girl a decent dinner on a date; maybe that meant skipping lunch. đ
Create value âĄď¸ Share value âĄď¸ Receive value. Everyday. âťď¸
Iâm in six-figure income again. Work wherever I want. Just welcomed a new baby girl to the world, and loving the challenges that come everyday from commitment to vision! đ
âBusyness rarely takes care of business.â
Focus on your top three high value things for the day. Gary will tell you, pick the one. I agree with him, but thatâs a deep-dive exercise.
Instead, know value, focus on value, and pick the top three most high impact things you can deliver that day. Ignore the rest of the noise.

There is no such thing as (effective) multi-tasking. I have long since said that in my career.
The workforce is rife with over-doing, without notably more getting done. Itâs a trap; itâs a show that makes the doer feel better about mediocrity.
Pick your three high value tasks, and get them done one at a time! đ
â Quote featured in Kellerâs The One Thing.
Saturday mornings.
Thereâs a state of over-learning that doesnât serve you.
Yes, grow wiser every day.
Yes, study great people and catalog what they learned.
But you must do also. Nothing gets done, no great accomplishment manifests without a spark of doing!
Iâve found this in all facets of life, but particularly in the business world, the overwhelming majority of people are mediocre, AND they want you to be mediocre.
It takes such a small amount of consistency to be in the top 3% that itâs almost comical. You are a champion, and youâre only three high-value deliverables a week from being leagues ahead of the guys in the Federal Bureau of Mediocrity!
Quote from video âHow To Learn Faster - Read 5 Books Simultaneouslyâ on YouTube.
The most powerful question you can ask staff, managers, or company executives, is âhow can I help you the most?â And mean it.
Youâll find that all of a sudden youâre the high value go-to guy when youâre focused on value-add and problem solving.
Collect data, pick actionable priorities, and leave telling them, âlet me know how I can help you the most!â
Got my main squeeze, enjoying the weather and a break from the office! đ
Iâve had a handful of MBAâs work for me. Iâm not saying that itâs a bad thing, but I am saying that your attitude and aptitude trump academic achievement.
Experience trumps the âlearnedâ, and adaptability wins the big hauls. The rest of them just work for those people.
Mornings are like a wide open space waiting to be navigated. Pick your three high values things for the day, and make calm, but intentional, strides in that direction. đđ
You donât have to be intentionally contrarian, but seeking consensus is not leadership.
Know where youâre going, and be going there. Thatâs leadership.
Along the way, shepherd the people looking up to you to get to that destination. Meet them where theyâre at and pour value into their lives to help them align with the mission. Thatâs leadership.
