It's about understanding how our race, gender, age, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, and more, all intertwine to shape our unique experiences.

Now, let's bring this into the medical world.🩺 Meet Dr. Chandler's RAINBOW & SAGE models. They are designed to enhance our understanding of how these intersecting identities impact health and wellness.

RAINBOW 🌈 stands for Race, Age, Inherent and acquired Dis/Abilities, National, Belief systems, Orientation (incl. SAGE), and Work status. While SAGE 🌿 represents S*x, Attraction/Activities, Gender, and Expression.

These models remind us that health isn't just about what's happening inside our bodies. It's about our whole existence - our identities, our social contexts, our environments.

For instance, a person's immigration status may affect their access to healthcare, just as one's gender identity may influence their comfort level in seeking medical help. These are vital considerations in providing effective, empathetic, and expansive care.

So, let's celebrate our unique identities and the richness they bring to our lives while also acknowledging the challenges they can present. Let's strive for an expansive healthcare system that recognizes and respects all dimensions of our identities.

Remember, health is a RAINBOW, and we're all SAGEs in our own unique ways. 🌈🌿

I know the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic is a particularly difficult time for people with anxiety. Even those who do not typically suffer with anxiety, are experiencing higher levels than usual.

We will get through this together and come out stronger on the other side. This is not the time to revolt and ignore advice from the CDC and other government agencies.

One important thing to remember is that this is temporary. Our lives as we know them, will return to normal but we must make some serious sacrifices, at this time. This includes staying home, avoiding close contact with those known to be sick (even if they are loved ones), social distancing, frequent 20 second hand-washing with soap and warm water, and if you have to go out ensure that you sanitize and disinfect prior to touching any part of your face.
