This addition includes a lounge, patio areas, and a performance space—designed to celebrate community connection and reestablish this theatre as a vibrant cultural center in Pensacola. MLK Day of Service Past Partner Perspectives: Edible Schoolyard
As our 10th Anniversary Day of Service approaches (tomorrow), we're revisiting past partners and collaborations. Charlotte Steele, Executive Director of @esynola, talks through the process of working with EDR to design a structure for outdoor classrooms for the organization's programming at Phillis Wheatley Community School, a Firstline School. Edible Schoolyard's mission is "connecting children to food, the natural world, and community" through kitchen and garden classes at school, and our team created a design that would work to provide both shade and protection from rain, but also guide stormwater and increase efficiency when teaching outdoors. This organization works to provide a healthy connection to food, and, in New Orleans, food is an integral part of our culture. Edible Schoolyard has positively impacted so many children in the community, and we are proud to have been able to partner with this amazing group of change-makers!

MLK Day of Service Past Partner Perspectives: Innocence Project New Orleans
As our 10th Anniversary Day of Service approaches (THIS Friday!), we start with a look back to our past partners. This conversation with Jee Park, Executive Director of Innocence Project New Orleans, highlights the process of envisioning a new headquarters for Innocence Project New Orleans. The non-profit works to "free innocent people sentenced to life in prison and those serving unjust sentences," and in 2023, their workspace needed to grow with the success of the organization. EDR worked with IPNO to determine what did and didn't work for their workstyle and organizational needs. Conversations yielded new office layouts for the current building and a proposed addition to increase space and amenities for client services. We are proud to work with people who care for their community, and Innocence Project New Orleans is an action-driven advocate for those in and around New Orleans. Kudos to everything you have accomplished in over 20 years! Stay tuned this week as we countdown to another awesome year of our MLK Day of Service with several other past partner retrospectives!

The countdown to the 10th Anniversary of our MLK Day of Service is ON! On Friday, January 12th, EskewDumezRipple, in partnership with nine other design firms, will dedicate a workday to initiatives advocating for equity in the design of the built environment. Since its inception in 2014, the MLK Day of Service remains one of the most special days of the calendar year, and we are proud that the program has grown in both size and impact. We’re always on the lookout for innovative new gadgets to help us visualize and communicate our designs—to our clients and ourselves! Not too long ago, Javi cooked up this lighting test for a miniature version of the Bruce Museum’s ceiling coffers. This way, we can steal a sneak peek at how light would move and be distributed throughout the interior gallery spaces during the day. So proud to share that the Home Building at @thadenschool in Bentonville, Arkansas has been awarded a prestigious 2022 Honor Award for Architecture from @aianational. The project was designed to serve as the crux of the school's "Meals" curriculum, where students come together to learn about ecology and the environment through the science of food. More than just a model for ethical and sustainable food production, the Home Building strives to establish a new vision for the future while celebrating the rich heritage of the surrounding landscape.
