A gift for the dogs.
First throw on new wheel.
Chaos, our newest 5 month old German Shepherd puppy is great company in the studio. He just can’t figure out how that man got into the box! Listening to a book on tape narrated by Tom Hanks- The Dutch House by Ann Patchett.
Latest in the studio- It’s still on Baronne… and running on bare minimum. Because we have sold this location and are renting it until we make our final move, our landlord has the option to tear down this studio to build another building in its place. His original plan! We are happy he extended our lease as our Bywater project takes more time. This could happen any day now. So this studio is living on borrowed time.
Check out the art at the NOLA branch of McClenny, Moseley & Associates law firm located on St Charles Avenue! Yes, the art’s for sale! And do call MMA for your legal needs!
Happy Father’s Day to the Fathers.

The last of the monkey series:
Unfortunately, this work has been damaged beyond repair in my storage facility on St Charles. Hurricane Ida was the culprit. I will recreate her because she feels right and a series with an even number of 4, makes my skin crawl.
I read an article that made my imagination run wild, but also, it was an example of how big industries can affect the environment around them. Folks from South Louisiana (my personal experience), who live in "Cancer Alley", and many others living around big industry have suffered great losses from contaminations from the industries in their neighborhoods.
It happened in France where M & M waste at a Mars facility was stored in uncovered containers and then picked up by local bees and brought to their hives. The honey produced at these hives was no longer golden, but blue and green. It could no longer be sold by the bee keepers.

I’ve had a strong desire to learn how to do stained glass. Finally!!! A huge project for a first timer. Thank you, Toni D Graff Barnard, a very patient teacher, friend and lovely person! A new technique to add to the new studio, which will be large enough to accommodate this. Rex.
Part of the Monkey series... I read a story about a young man playing in the p*e wee football league. This was years ago, I think push back to pink gloves might not be so harsh these days? Maybe? But at the time, his coach, didn't know that the pink gloves were to support breast cancer awareness. His mother had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. And... why not pink for the sake of pink? Maybe he just likes pink and that should be good enough.

I read an article about a poor fellow who signed up for a strange eating contest that proved to lead to his demise. A live cockroach eating contest. What would he have won in this contest? A huge snake! It occurred to me that the snake got him after all.

I read a story about a young woman who was voted homecoming queen of her high school, as a joke. They wanted to laugh at her.
When she found out that it wasn't really her friends honoring her, she was quoted, "I felt 'like trash.'" High School is hard. Bullies are mean.

Years ago, my father gave me a book of photography featuring primate portraits. The different primates were brought into a studio, set up with a backdrop, lights and camera where these primates were photographed just as Christie Brinkley or Kendall Jenner would be. They posed and smiled in much the same way. How close we are, the human race, to these beautiful creatures. I've always felt a great connection to animals. This book triggered the Monkey series. All pastel. All tell stories. Thank you, Father.
She is me.
It's really hard to start over when you're older. Going back to college with much younger classmates. Even the act of putting a backpack on feels weird and ridiculous. This work is about feeling ridiculous.

Another oldie... and not my kittie. I have two males. I saw a photo of this Mother on a FB page and thought that she must understand what many mothers go through. She wears her heart, but sometimes motherhood ain't easy so she also wears a triangular black eye. Triangle because life is fluid and the triangle means change. It will get better.
Starting posts with oldies... animals... I have two hairless cats and they play roles in my paintings. This is Bacchus. This painting is about family relationships.
Hello- If you happened upon this FB page and haven't seen my work before, Welcome! And hold on, I'll be posting older and new works and giving some explanation.
I am a narrative artist.
These works will be for sale later in the year at The Bywater Art Gallery, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The gallery's page is:
bywaterartgallery, LLC
You can follow it's renovation process. Quite interesting- it was built in the 1950's... old floors, walls... And then keep up with the Gallery's activities at the page.
