Happy World Giraffe Day from the herd that call Audubon Species Survival Center home! Our Species Survival Center has seven adult giraffes: Raven, Marula, Kippi, Oso, Parker, Tumaini, and Gus. 🦒

We are very excited to announce on World Giraffe Day that Audubon Species Survival Center has two new baby giraffes, Poe and Kuzco! Kuzco was born to mom Kippi and dad Gus on February 25, 2024. Kuzco was 76 inches tall when he was born. Poe was born to first time mom Raven and dad Gus on April 19, 2024. Poe weighed a whopping 116 pounds when he was born.

Over the past 35 years, giraffe populations in the wild have decreased by nearly 30%, and now fewer than 117,000 giraffes remain across Africa. Every giraffe birth matters, and we are so happy to be a part of the giraffe Species Survival Plan overseen by The Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Let's stand tall for giraffes and ensure a future for these amazing animals!
