✨ **Exciting Project Announcement!** ✨
We’re thrilled to share that m2 studio has been chosen to renovate the historic Italianate-style villa at **3643 Camp Street, New Orleans**!
Built in 1866 for Henry David Rice, this beautiful property was once part of the Delachaise Plantation. In 1875, it became a home for Protestant widows and orphans, funded by John David Fink, a wealthy German immigrant. Later, it served as The Delachaise, a care facility for elderly women until 1973.
Stay tuned as we breathe new life into this remarkable piece of New Orleans' heritage.

Roth Architecture, a design studio based in Tulum, has introduced the EK car, an electric vehicle designed to offer a tranquil journey amidst nature along local roads. Developed under the studio's Azulik brand, which includes a resort, art museum, restaurants, and an insect-wing office, the EK car embodies the organic style prevalent across the Azulik property. Designed to address the environmental impact of fossil fuel transportation, the EK car aligns with the studio's commitment to the Earth's urgent demands and is tailored to navigate the winding roads of an upcoming residential project featuring luxury villas and apartments.
The EK car, named 'star' in the Mayan language, can accommodate three people and reach speeds of up to 22 miles per hour. Its design features a fiberglass body with silver automotive paint, open-air windows, and a transparent acrylic windshield. The interior includes a bed-like seat unit covered in cream waterproof fabric, with zapote wood detailing and a winged-handle steering wheel made from local wood. Constructed using local craftsmanship and modern methods like 3D printing in the studio's Fab Lab, the EK car is currently a prototype, with plans for further development and testing to eventually expand its use within and beyond Azulik's residential perimeter, promoting future mobility with a blend of technology and tradition.

// The Wizpr Smart Ring- Would you buy one?
Developed by VTouch, the Wizpr smart ring offers a new way to interact with AI by enabling users to give voice commands discreetly by speaking softly into their hand, without the need for wake words or buttons, thanks to a proximity sensor. Designed to work seamlessly with earphones, this device filters out background noise, allowing for quiet communication.
The titanium and epoxy resin ring features a battery, microphone, Bluetooth, and a unique button for switching AI assistants or activating an SOS function. It was highlighted at CES as an innovation, with production set to start in June. VTouch envisions this as the future of conversational computing, emphasizing the potential of smart rings over other wearables like glasses, due to their daily wearability and minimal interference with activities.

// Arachne - 3D Printed Facade
Arachne is an innovative digital architectural project, designed by ASW, that transforms an ordinary three-story building, measuring 10 meters in height and 12 meters in width, through the use of 3D printed components.
Designed to create an iconic presence on the main façades facing a public square, Arachne features a curtain wall system adorned with spatially intertwined hexagonal lattices. The structure incorporates over 2,000 3D printed parts, including hexagon joints and connecting structs, totaling more than 5 tons. These components were produced by 50 large FDM printers over four months.
The design’s intricate network of braided threads is adjusted at intersections like balconies and rain roofs to align precisely with the building’s form. The final installation, completed with precise gaps and cushioning for adjustments, mirrors the digital model perfectly, showcasing the capabilities of modern design and fabrication technologies.

// House 3000
Herdade da Considerada, spanning an expansive 500 hectares near Alcácer do Sal, presents a vast and featureless terrain that challenges conventional navigation. In response, architect Luís Rebelo de Andrade embarked on a visionary quest to create a distinctive landmark within this expanse. The result is an architectural marvel that not only serves as a navigational reference point but also harmonizes with the natural surroundings. With meticulous attention to detail, the structure integrates seamlessly into the landscape, offering a striking contrast to the uniformity of the terrain.
Beyond its practical functionality, the house embodies a narrative steeped in nostalgia and adventure. Drawing inspiration from the romanticized imagery of frontier life in the American West, Rebelo de Andrade’s design evokes a sense of wanderlust and exploration. The gable roof, doors, and windows serve as nostalgic echoes of a bygone era, inviting inhabitants to embark on a journey of discovery amidst the timeless beauty of Herdade da Considerada.

In the heart of the Sathorn-Yen Akat area, Warchitect designed a 1000 sq m house for a successful businessman and his family, mindful of Feng Shui principles. The layout divides the house into a service area on the left, integrating with the road, and the main residence on the right. A spacious garage, accommodating 6 cars, overlooks lush gardens and a serene setting, offering a resort-like ambiance. The architecture seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces, with glass walls and movable panels connecting the living room to the swimming pool and garden.
The design emphasizes elegance and warmth, with materials like white aluminum slats and blackened Japanese pine creating a striking contrast. Inside, the kitchen boasts bookmatched stone walls and a vertical stone pantry, while the staircase, made of white marble, ascends alongside charred Japanese pine walls. Each floor offers unique spaces, from an antique car exhibition room to bedrooms with views of the surrounding greenery, culminating in a harmonious blend of modernity and tranquility.

🏙️✨ // Sanya, China
Zaha Hadid Architects has been chosen to design the vibrant new harborside cultural district, a sprawling project spanning 409,000 square meters. Set to redefine Sanya’s cultural landscape, the development will feature a dynamic blend of performing arts spaces, exhibition galleries, conference facilities, and commercial areas. Inspired by the fluidity of Sanya Bay’s tropical waters, the architecture seamlessly integrates with the city’s urban fabric, offering a breathtaking transition. Anchored by a central axis, the design elegantly divides into distinct zones, with one side dedicated to cultural pursuits and the other to commerce. Embracing its coastal location, the district boasts layered roofs reminiscent of billowing sails, framing entrances and offering stunning waterfront views from public terraces.
☀️🌊 Sustainability takes center stage in this visionary project, with thoughtful design elements tailored to Hainan’s tropical climate. Natural ventilation and sunlight optimization are prioritized through strategic orientation and landscaping, while innovative low-carbon strategies, including photovoltaics and rainwater collection systems, are seamlessly integrated. Overhanging eaves provide shelter, while a central plant harnesses seawater for cooling. With a commitment to eco-friendly practices, the architecture incorporates locally sourced and recycled materials, including timber from certified sustainable forests.
Stay tuned as m2 studio celebrates inspiring designs, fueling our weekly dose of architectural inspiration!

Today we are highlighting Studio 804’s Pinkey Neighborhood House! ✨
The American suburb’s rich vernacular has shifted towards generic builder-grade homes like McMansions or contemporary farmhouses. However, Studio 804, led by architect Dan Rockhill and supported by Duravit since 2017, challenges this trend with the Pinkney Neighborhood House, blending modern design with local aesthetics.
This year’s residence, located in Lawrence, Kansas, marks the firm’s 18th LEED Platinum Certified project, showcasing architectural excellence rooted in contextual detail. Despite challenges like overgrowth and a flood zone, the design integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, featuring two modern gabled structures with reflective black facades, a departure from traditional local aesthetics.
