Calling all aspiring cheerleaders from kindergarten to 6th grade! St. Augustine High School is excited to announce the Junior Cheer Registration on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The event will be held at Life of Christ Christian Academy, located at 1851 N Dorgenois St., New Orleans, LA 70119. The registration fee is $100, payable via cash, check, or Cash App.

Henry Family Commits to $2.5 Million Gift to Alma Mater: Largest Pledge in St. Augustine History

St. Augustine High School announces a 10-year commitment of $2.5 million from two alums: Ruston Henry ’80 and Troy Henry ’78. Today, on Give Purple Day, Ruston Henry contributed $1 million of the $2.5 million towards St. Augustine’s athletic operations which include funding towards the enhancements of the school’s practice field and the Rigaud Health and Wellness Center. In the outer years to come, Ruston and Troy Henry will complete their remaining commitment of $1.5 million in the areas of curriculum enhancement and special initiatives. Regarding the immediate $1 million, the existing practice field will be transformed from natural grass to synthetic turf and will now be known as the “Ruston and Troy Henry Field” in perpetuity. For the family’s support towards the Health and Wellness Center, the upcoming state-of-the-art football locker room will be known in perpetuity as the “Henry Family Football Locker Room”.

“It brings me great joy to witness the Henry family commit to a monumental gift to their alma mater. Their belief in the school’s next level of growth aligns perfectly with the continuous progression taking place throughout the neighborhood, in which we have been a pillar in the community for seventy-three years, said Aulston Taylor, President and CEO of St. Augustine High School.

Construction to the practice field is slated to commence early to mid-July with a completion timing of 8-10 weeks.

Thank you to the Henry family for their wonderful commitment to St. Augustine High School. This transformative gift will undoubtedly spur growth and unite the St. Augustine community for a better tomorrow.

Just so happened I ran into one of his teachers in Memphis. And to hear how well they spoke of him made me smile from ear to ear. TIME is more valuable!
