This year's keynote speaker will be writer/producer, filmmaker Felicia Pride (Queen Sugar, Bel-Air, Grey's Anatomy, and others) and this event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. She'll be speaking on campus at 6 pm on 9/21 in the Diboll Gallery of the Newcomb Institute. The event is FREE and we'd love to see you there! Please join us!
TUTD’s first MainStage of the season opens Wednesday, September 25th and runs through Sunday, September 29th. ‘Everything That Never Happened’, a new play by Sarah Mantell and directed by Jessica Podewell.
'Everything That Never Happened' offers a revisionist retelling of Shakespeare’s 'The Merchant of Venice', reimagining the classic tale from a Jewish and feminist perspective. The narrative delves into the lives of Jessica and Lorenzo, two lovers who must navigate the complexities of escaping her father’s house, the Venetian ghetto, and her entire culture. Set in the interstices of Shakespeare’s original play and the stark realities of Jewish history, this production explores themes of disguise, assimilation, and the untold stories that Shakespeare left behind.
