Whether our architects create livable spaces for a home or artful spaces for a boutique hotel, we believe good design should feel authentic and comfortable.
・・・
Let’s talk about the exterior of this project for a moment. While most of our scope was concentrated on the interior, the south facing side of the historic brick structure was affected by wind-driven rain from Hurricane Ida. Additionally, roof leaks directed toward the exterior wall caused wetting and cracking of the existing plaster interior finish.
Where the plaster was too damaged, we furred out a new moisture-resistant gypsum drywall interior finish and filled the gap with non-moisture sensitive rock wool insulation for the thermal comfort. Weak spots in the exterior mortar we treated by repointing, windows were repainted and resealed to help shore up the walls exterior barrier.

More on this award winning project with and : the primary bathroom was an empty shell of a space, a holdover from the former layout. The new design extends through a functional linear space with lots of natural light, featuring a steam room and shower with a custom steel enclosure and lots of integrated storage.

A lot credit is owed to our client for inspiring this project. Our collaboration involved discussions of details down to the half inch. We loved every part it! Paint, new fixtures, and a cute striped rug helped transform and warm up this bath without a major renovation. The gorgeous Greek Revival window does not hurt.

A 1920’s bathtub with perfect curves, unlacquered brass hardware, rumbled 100% linen curtains, wood toilet seat, and loads of creamy subway tile from the local hardware store…a case for simplicity and restraint. We love creating bathrooms in historical buildings to look they have always been there, and to hopefully last for a long time to come.

Our “Beams & Brews” series kicks off 2024 with a visit to the Grigson-Didier House in the Irish Channel next month, February 22 – don’t miss it!
After storm damage to the roof made restoration necessary, Paris Neil Seidman and Jayson Seidman turned to and to start work at 436 Seventh St. One of the first houses built on the land of the former Livaudais Plantation, the property is often referred to as the oldest surviving building within the boundaries of the former City of Lafayette. It was built as a single-family home in the 1830s by Mary Ann Grigson. Six years ago, Seidman purchased the home from James Donald “Don” Didier, a notable preservationist. Beams & Brews offers a chance to view the property inside and out, hear from the project’s managers and enjoy free drinks. Free for PRC members; $10 for non-members.

Gosh dang if this isn’t the most beautiful bar we have ever designed! Inspired by Art Deco furniture and exquisitely crafted by the master . And you know there is a refrigerator behind the right door for extra points…special call out to for this beauty, for the detailed coordination, and our client for believing in the vision! A true statement to keeping artistic craftsmanship alive. We will always remember standing under these stairs and making a template for the curved mirror backsplash with the man who made this.

To porch or not to porch? It’s a toss-up with so much happening in NOLA this weekend.
One thing for sure, we’ll be spending the weekend outside (even if we don’t make it past the front porch). 🌞

Being an interior designer in New Orleans has its perks, like working in excellent examples of historical Greek Revival architecture. What a beauty this house is. Our client wanted to respect the historical feel and charm of the house and New Orleans while making sure to layer in a modern masculine feel. We say success!

This kitchen was rather new when we were brought on to help with the renovation of this stunning historical home. The kitchen cabinets were a contemporary style in a greige mauve color which would not have been our first go-to, but we agreed with the client they were very nice cabinets and it would be a shame to waste them. We are proud of the result! Steel windows with gorgeous Greek Revival casing replicated from the rest of the home was the first step (well besides the pendant lights but we can’t even talk about those), new floors, monolithic custom steel hood, and the fantastic green marble that was a bold move but really added so much warmth to the entire space and brought the outdoors in.
Amazing team work on this space! Highly coordinated custom details. What a transformation, had to share the before.

Katie here…being surrounded by design, objects, textiles, and color not only in our studio, but rather constantly in my mind, lead me to want a cloud like experience for our primary bath at home. It is such a simple respite everyday. The layered creams, classic marble, and painted floors never tire for me. And an absolute must was wall mount faucets, no more cleaning around faucet bases! Heaven 🤍
