What a fantastic day of therapy for all!🐴💕😊
UPDATE: We found the right person for this volunteer job. 😊 Thanks to all who shared and to all who volunteer!
Looking for a volunteer with availability to supervise a small group of special needs adults who will come with their caregiver. They wish to do chores ( usually cleaning feed buckets and sweeping the barn) either a Monday or Friday morning just for an hour, 10:30 - 11:30 AM. Your job would simply be to facilitate the chores getting done. Please let me know if you can help. Thank you😊
Your special gifts might be disguised. Different than anyone else's, but awesome!
Wishing you all a happy Independence day weekend!
This dog is amazing.
What a gorgeous day for some therapy riding!💕🐴

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′ healing ′′ that occurs when we're close to horses. According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body. While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a ′′ coherent ′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can ′′ feel better ′′ when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace. In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy ".

This is fantastic!
Thanks to a generous grant from Surfing's Evolution & Preservation Foundation, which provided a beach accessible wheelchair to every coastal Florida State Park.
These beach wheelchairs can be used in areas with soft sand where convention wheelchairs would get stuck and can even be wheeled into shallow waters.
"His video is also an essay on seeing, in the deeper sense of the word — seeing and being seen, recognition and understanding, sensitivity and compassion, the stuff of meaningful human connection."

Johnny has been working at Rockin' Horse Farm for several years helping to feed and care for our animals. Johnny has a great love for animals and works hard to help us care for our animal friends properly.
For many of us, just being around the animals is therapy in itself. Johnny rode in our Horse Connections program when he was younger and found that the companionship of horses was what he loved most.
We are so thrilled and grateful to have Johnny's help around the farm!
So Dom is a Horse Connections student and volunteer who helps his mom feed lunch to the horses on Saturdays, he is sweet and full of energy, and one of his favorite things is to give new names to our animals. 🤣
Beauty just came to live here at Rockin'Horse Farm recently, and is strong willed and usually a bit pushy on the ground with her handlers. With a little bit of work and lots of positive reinforcement of good behaviors, here she is being so well mannered for Dom.😍
It's not all about horses, we love our piggies too!
Look what Sahara can do. 🐽
Our young Petunia is in training and has worked into doing both English and Western riding lessons, trail rides and now therapy riding too. An all around good girl, and a great addition to our farm she has turned out to be!!
Looking at some new ways to make Horse Connections for our students and their families. Got any bright ideas to share?💡
Our volunteers are our world! 💕

What a wonderful movement. Equestrian sports and companionship should be for all! Let's find ways to bring opportunities to everyone who desires that special connection.🐴

Socially distanced Horse Connections.
It sure has been hard to navigate this pandemic with our typical hands on approach to teaching our students not being possible. With a little creativity we have been able to do limited riding activities with more independent students but we miss the good old days of many volunteers and many happy riders on our beautiful horses.
Suzanne and her daughter Jacqueline having the best time at the farm after a long time away. Our therapeutic riding is no where near back to normal, but we are working one student at a time in when possible. Glad we can be outdoors with horses, it's therapeutic for all of us and so good to see old friends!
Thinking of all of the amazing parents of our special needs students. 💕

The Pandemic’s Toll on Children With Special Needs and Their Parents Missing social contacts and altered routines, disturbed sleep and eating habits can be particularly intense for the kids with developmental challenges.
Some sweet moments with our horses for you to enjoy. 😊
Our Story
We operate our Horse Connections program on a small family farm with some happy chickens and contented horses at Rockin’ Horse Farm, on 10+ acres near downtown New Port Richey. Since 2007 we have served the community by providing opportunities for teens, pre-teens and adults to help others by volunteering in an environment that nurtures their emotional well being. We serve the special needs community by providing therapeutic riding activities for kids, adults and veterans, and by offering the ability to volunteer which helps develop life skills. As for the horses, through training, excellent care and sometimes even rehabilitation, we help them become valuable members of our team!
