A guy who works for the app “Seed Oil Scout” ate at the bar at on Friday, asked a bunch of questions about the menu, ordered a meal, and then walked out on his tab. Regardless of how you feel about seed oils, stealing from small businesses is a scummy business practice, and they should be publicly shamed in the same way they are going around shaming businesses (see photo). I know it doesn’t always seem this way, but it is very difficult to be a small business in New York City, as evidenced by the many, many local favorites that have closed in the last few years.

Other small businesses - watch out for scammers like this. And customers — please consider how you treat, write about, and publicly shame your local small businesses, otherwise we’ll be left with a city of only Starbucks and McDonald’s.
